Chapter 135 What a Phony Thing to Say

Selena raised an eyebrow, a glint of gossip in her eyes.

But Raymond wasn't about to let anyone snoop into his business, so she turned off the screen.

Then Olivia sent another message.

Olivia: [Mia said you got married. I want to thank your wife for taking care of you while I was away.]

What a phony thing to say.

Selena didn't care much about Raymond, but she had a knack for spotting fake people who pretended to be nice.

Most women couldn't stand those types, but guys were often the opposite.

So, Raymond was into that kind of thing.

Selena thought about it for a second but didn't linger on it. She grabbed the keys and phone and hit the elevator button.

Raymond was in the lobby, waiting. When Selena didn't show up right away, he wandered over to the big window to wait.

When Selena finally came down, she didn't see Raymond because some big columns were in the way.

Plus, she had Raymond's phone, so she instinctively walked outside.

Raymond, meanwhile, didn't see her come out of the elevator because he was staring out the window.

After ten minutes, he got fed up and decided to go up himself.

But as soon as the elevator doors opened, there was Alice.

Alice couldn't hide her admiration for Raymond; her eyes sparkled, and her cheeks were flushed with excitement.

Raymond wasn't a fan of such obvious admiration, so his face darkened.

Alice was originally heading out because James said he was hungry. She had recovered a bit and thought of grabbing some food.

She also didn't want to stay in the ward listening to James ramble about Selena.

She didn't expect to run into Raymond.

So Alice, who was supposed to go out, just stood there in the elevator.

Raymond frowned and asked, "Aren't you going out?"

To Raymond, Alice was just his wife, Selena, and his tone was as if he were talking to a stranger.

A look of disappointment flashed in Alice's eyes as she cautiously moved closer to him in the elevator.

"Mr. Montague, can I treat you to a meal?"

Alice wanted to be closer to him. Just being near him made her happy.

She used to only watch from afar, but now she was finally getting closer to him step by step.

Raymond just felt annoyed. Luckily, the elevator arrived at that moment, and he stepped out.

But when he got to the spot where he had just bandaged his wound, Selena was nowhere to be found.

With Alice trailing behind him, his mood grew colder, making people hesitant to approach.

He quickly got back in the elevator and hit the close button.

Alice knew being so forward would only annoy Raymond, but she figured if she played the humble admirer long enough, he'd eventually feel sorry for her.

Alice planned to use her fragile appearance and helpless yet passionate eyes to slowly win him over.

When Raymond exited the elevator, he saw Selena coming in from the lobby.

Selena saw him and let out a sigh of relief. "Mr. Montague, where did you go just now?"

Raymond rarely lost his temper, especially not with a woman.

But every time he dealt with Selena, things went south, so his tone was icy. "You have the nerve to ask."

Was he mad? Selena had no clue what she did wrong.

"I'll take you back," Selena said cautiously.

Raymond shot her a cold glance and walked out.
