Chapter 243 The Affair Exposed
Han thought Raymond was on board, so he rushed over to tell her. But she just turned her head away.
"Thanks, but the tow truck's on its way. I'll wait a bit longer. I need to follow my car. Once it's fixed today, I gotta head back to Silver Bay City."
Han noticed she was freezing and wanted her to warm up in his car. But after hearing her, he didn't push it.
The tow truck was only twenty minutes away. Selena stood outside, waiting, and sneezed.
Han explained the situation to some government officials in his car and then talked to Raymond.
Raymond just rolled up his window, not caring.
Twenty minutes later, the tow truck showed up.
Selena hopped into the tow truck and followed it to the repair shop.
It was her first time in a tow truck, and the driver was pretty entertaining. Her mood lifted a bit as she watched the lush hills and clear waters go by.
A few cars followed the tow truck, making quite the convoy into the city.
At the repair shop, it took another half hour of tinkering before the car was up and running again.
Selena paid the bill, grabbed some cold medicine from the pharmacy next door, took a few pills, and planned to head back to Silver Bay City.
But then Erin called. Selena hung up without a second thought and hit the gas.
Erin sighed when she heard the call drop and looked at Brian, who was silently smoking beside her.
Inside the house, Megan's loud voice was still going, calling Jacob a wimp.
Jacob glanced at her belly, wanting to snap back but holding it in.
It wasn't until four in the afternoon that Selena made it back to Silver Bay City.
She was wiped out from the trip and wanted to head back to Rose Garden but was worried about running into the crazy woman who had tangled with Jacob before.
She thought about going back to Ashbourne Manor but was concerned Raymond might also be back in Silver Bay City today.
In the end, she decided to get a room at a hotel, deliberately avoiding the one Raymond always stayed at.
After a bath, she took a few more pills and finally felt human again when she crashed on the bed.
With her phone off and charging, she had no clue what was going on with the Fair family.
James had been in poor health and had been in the hospital for the past couple of days. Tonight, he decided to head back to the Fair family without telling anyone.
In the afternoon, Beatrice had told him he needed to stay in the hospital for a week, and Alice was also in a room upstairs, while Nick had gone to the company.
So, James didn't call them.
He opened the living room door, and the place was empty.
James frowned, not remembering giving the servants a day off. Where was everyone?
He walked up to the second floor and heard voices outside his bedroom. It was Beatrice.
"That old bastard has liver cancer and won't last long. The doctor said he has at most a year left. Once he dies, the company will be ours. He wants to give shares to that bitch Selena. We have to stop this. Otherwise, it'll be too late when Selena comes back."
James froze, staring in disbelief, feeling his blood boil and his eyes nearly popping out.
Then Kenny's voice came from inside.
"Beatrice, you're amazing. You've got James wrapped around your finger."
"If it weren't for you, would I have stayed by his side for so long? You're so bad, you can watch me get close to him without getting jealous."
"I'm doing this for our future. Once we get the company, we can live however we want. This is a critical time, Beatrice. Bear with it a little longer."
"Kenny, do you really not mind me sleeping with him?"
"Baby, it kills me. But come on, we finally have this chance tonight. Let's not get interrupted this time. Last time, Selena almost caught us, and I had to pull up my pants in a hurry."
"Don't even mention it. Nick has warned me several times not to mess around at home."
Then came some indecent sounds.
James gripped the doorknob tightly, his face red with anger.
He flung the door open, looking at the two tangled on the bed, and roared.
"You! You! Bastards!"
He was so furious he couldn't form a complete sentence and nearly fainted.
