Chapter 1507 Does Raymond Dare?

Selena understood their predicament all too well, tears streaming down her cheeks in heavy drops. What now? They had finally found Octavia—were they supposed to leave her trapped in this cold, merciless basement? Who could be so cruel? Who was responsible for this torture?

Her lips pressed into a thin, cold line as murderous intent flickered in her eyes. Never before had she felt such an overwhelming desire to kill someone.

"Selena..." Raymond held her close, feeling utterly helpless. He had calculated every variable, planned for every contingency—except for the impenetrable fortress that held Octavia captive.

Gunfire echoed from outside as he lifted Selena into his arms. She tried to struggle, but her strength had abandoned her.

"I'm sorry. You need to sleep now."

Raymond's hand struck the back of her neck with practiced precision. Selena's eyes widened in disbelief before consciousness fled, and she collapsed unconscious in his arms.

Behind them, Octavia remained seated within her prison, unaware of what had transpired, sitting in cold isolation.

Raymond summoned his men, his voice steady despite the chaos. "Have the mute caretaker who was looking after her continue his duties."

"Yes, sir."

He had no choice but to evacuate Selena first—K's forces had arrived. Cradling her unconscious form, he headed for the exit.

Octavia sat alone in the silent basement. The two guards who had been electrocuted were already dragged away, leaving the space eerily quiet once more. But for her, the basement had always been silent—silent as if she were the last person left in the world.

Within the reinforced walls, over a thousand cameras watched her like unblinking eyes, monitoring her every movement.

The basement door sealed shut with finality. She remained unaware that someone had attempted her rescue, oblivious that Selena—the daughter she constantly worried about—had been mere feet away.

Raymond emerged from the underground facility with Selena in his arms, immediately greeted by the sharp crack of gunfire. His men were already returning fire in fierce combat.

At the vehicle, he found Mario awake, dark eyes fixed on him with unsettling intensity.

Raymond frowned, protectively adjusting Selena in his embrace.

Mario's laugh was cold and mocking. "Think you're walking away from this place alive?"

"What did you do?"

Mario's smile turned sinister as he tapped his chest. "Made a deal with K. Let him plant a tracker right here, close to my heart."

Raymond seized Mario's collar, murder blazing in his eyes. "Mario, have you completely lost your mind?"

Mario brushed away his grip with defiant arrogance. "Oh yes, I've lost it completely. Raymond, let's none of us leave—we'll all stay here in Mystic Prison together. It's quite cozy, don't you think?"

His self-destructive recklessness showed no fear of dying by Raymond's hand.

Raymond released his collar and grabbed a nearby blade, slicing through the fabric of Mario's shirt. Clearly, he intended to extract the tracker himself.

But Mario had deliberately positioned the device dangerously close to his heart—a calculated move to corner Raymond. Without medical training, the slightest miscalculation with the blade would prove fatal.

And if Mario died, Christopher would vanish forever. Raymond would become his brother's murderer.

Did Raymond dare take that risk?

Mario's expression remained mockingly triumphant. "Go ahead—slice open my chest. But think carefully, Raymond. Consider how much you owe Christopher. If he hadn't protected you all those years ago, he never would have been selected, never would have lost his freedom at such a young age. If not for Selena, he wouldn't have entered that research facility and endured such torment. And here you are—possessing his woman, now wanting his life. What a devoted brother you've turned out to be."

The blade trembled in Raymond's grip, its sharp point pressed against Mario's chest, but he couldn't bring himself to cut. Mario was right—this body belonged to Christopher.

Christopher had never wronged Raymond, not once.
