Chapter 1489 Crisis
The island was still in chaos.
Raymond led Eldon away.
Eldon wasn't hurt, but he was panting heavily as he followed behind.
"Raymond, you gonna see your wife now?"
"Yeah."
Raymond's tone was cold. Hearing the gunfire outside, he pointed to a hidden path.
"This way."
Over the past few days, he had familiarized himself with the area.
After running for a while, Eldon felt the gunfire fading.
Raymond stood on the street, questioning someone hiding in the shadows.
"Where is she?"
"Mr. Montague, we got news about Ms. Fair ten minutes ago. Follow me."
The people hidden in the darkness were the force that could be commanded by the Soto family's token.
Eldon had given the token to Raymond, making him the leader of this group.
"And the other woman I asked you to find?"
"She's on the outer island, but the situation's complicated."
"What do you mean?"
"The woman looks exactly like the photo you gave us, but she's blind and deaf, and she's being held in a dark basement."
Raymond's heart skipped a beat. What had happened to Octavia?
He lowered his lashes. "Let's go to Selena first."
"Yes, sir."
A group of people headed towards Selena's location, but Selena was still lying in bed.
The commotion on the central island was loud tonight, and she had heard some noises.
Her eyelashes fluttered, and when she woke up, she saw Mario standing by the bed, staring at her with a serious expression.
She grabbed the blanket in fear, her brows furrowing tightly.
"What are you doing?"
But Mario didn't respond. Instead, he grabbed her by the throat.
Selena felt suffocated, the air being stripped away.
Mario looked at her face and suddenly struck the back of her head.
She passed out.
He picked her up and carried her to a car parked in the yard.
The car drove through the central island's checkpoints and headed towards the inner island.
Raymond was a step too late. By the time he arrived, no one was there.
"Where are they?"
He looked at the people hiding in the shadows, and they quickly reported, "Mr. Montague, the man with Ms. Fair took her to the inner island."
The leader respectfully handed over a photo. Raymond took one look and recognized Mario.
So Mario had already met up with Selena and taken her to the inner island. What was he planning?
Raymond had just come from the inner island. If he went back now, Eldon might be in trouble.
Eldon peeked out from behind, his brows furrowed.
"Raymond, you're not seriously thinking of going back to the inner island, are you? We barely made it out of there. My grandfather is still fighting those people. Once it's over, they'll definitely return to the inner island tonight. Plus, those families see you as a thorn in their side. If you go back, everyone will target you. Even if you pretend to be that cloaked figure, what if you're exposed?"
"I have to find Selena."
He turned and was about to get in the car, but Eldon grabbed him.
Eldon looked very serious and sighed after a long pause.
"I don't know if giving you the token was the right choice. I have no way out now."
"You stay on the central island. You don't need to come back with me. I'll find Selena and then come back to meet you."
"Do you really think you'll make it back alive?"
Eldon wanted to believe him, but the families on the inner island were not easy to deal with, not to mention the mysterious figure lurking behind them.
