Chapter 62 Let Me Heal the Shadow My Father Left on You
Selena's face stayed blank, totally clueless that she had just sipped Raymond's water.
Samantha and Albert got busted. Roy Murphy, the VP of Silver Bay University, swooped in to handle things and greet the guests.
The drama wrapped up, and Roy even went up to Raymond to apologize personally. "Mr. Montague, I'm really sorry about all this. The school will explain everything to the investors and fully cooperate with the police."
Raymond frowned; Roy's attitude was way better than Albert's.
Roy glanced at Selena and sighed, "Long time no see, Penny."
Back when Selena switched to design, Roy was a big help. Without him, she wouldn't have graduated under the pressure from Albert and Samantha.
Selena replied, "Yeah, Mr. Murphy, good to see you again."
Roy smiled, "I was the one who gave you the name Penny. When I heard Mr. Montague's designer was called Penny, I thought I misheard. Now that I see you, I'm glad you're doing well."
A few years ago, even though Roy wanted to help Selena, he could only do so much and barely kept her degree safe.
Samantha was the Art School's Department Chair with strong connections. If Selena stuck with painting, she'd hit a dead end.
Roy had asked Selena what she planned to do. If she continued with painting, it would be a dead end.
Selena had simply said, "If the path is blocked, then break it and start anew."
Looking at Selena now, Roy felt a bit emotional. She was, undeniably, his most promising student.
But Roy was super busy and had no time for a heart-to-heart. He still had to calm the other guests at the art exhibition.
As soon as Roy left, Mia pinched her own face to check if everything that had just happened was real.
Mia was shocked that Selena had orchestrated the arrest of Samantha and Albert upon her arrival at the school.
Moreover, the arrogant Emily was also taken away by the police.
The pain of her pinch confirmed she wasn't dreaming.
Selena had no intention of staying longer. She nodded at Raymond as a greeting and then walked out.
Selena was not at peace inside; she needed a quiet place to ease her pain.
But as soon as she stepped out of the hall, she heard the rumbling sound of rain outside.
It was pouring, and the whole world seemed like a shaking landscape painting.
It had been sunny when she arrived, so she had no umbrella.
An umbrella was held over her head, and she heard Caterlington's voice. "Ms. Cooper, that was quite impressive."
Caterlington's tone was still flippant, making Selena frown.
Caterlington had been invisible the whole time, even retreating into the crowd when Kross was involved. Now that the storm had passed, he popped up as if nothing had happened.
A faint, almost imperceptible look of sarcasm appeared on her face.
Selena said with slight sarcasm, "Mr. Walsh, shouldn't you be going back to the Walsh family? Maybe your beloved father will end up in prison."
Caterlington smiled as he raised his fingers to touch her cheek. But noticing the wariness in Selena's eyes, he withdrew his hand.
"If he goes to prison, I'll naturally become the president of T. Rowe Group. Penny, I really have to thank you this time. I'm even more interested in you now. How about we have dinner together? Let me heal the shadow my father left on you." Caterlington smiled faintly, his eyes carrying a hint of teasing.
Selena couldn't take it anymore. She grabbed the umbrella from his hand and dashed into the rain.
The smile on Caterlington's face gradually disappeared. He looked at the pouring rain outside; he only had one umbrella.
He glanced at Selena's silhouette in the rain, a look of interest flashing in his eyes.
This just got more interesting.
