Chapter 384 She's Very Obedient

William finally felt satisfied.

Back in the day, their chess games would drag on for at least half an hour.

But tonight, William lost to Raymond in just ten minutes.

He raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Have you been letting me win all this time?"

It just hit him now, and he was so mad his nostrils flared. "Let's go again!"

Raymond glanced at the clock on the wall; it was already 7:51 PM.

"Raymond, since we started playing, you've checked the clock five times. Your mind's not in it."

William, with all his experience, thought about how Raymond could still finish the game in ten minutes even with a restless mind, and a hint of pride flashed in his eyes.

No wonder he had high hopes for his grandson.

He was indeed a good match for Selena.

"I've got some photos from when I first met Selena. Want to see? She was taking care of me in the hospital and was very sweet."

Raymond wasn't interested. Just then, a business partner called, and he took the chance to stand up. "Grandpa, I've got a call from a business partner. Need to discuss the morning meeting."

William sighed, thinking Raymond was restless because he was eager to discuss the meeting. "If you put this much effort into Selena, you two would have had several kids by now. Go on, go on. No matter how busy work is, don't forget your wife."

Raymond didn't respond. After getting in the car, he checked the time again.

It was 8:00 PM.

He didn't take the business partner's call but drove straight to the hotel.

By the time he got there, it was 8:30 PM.

John called to say that Bert had been arrested and the scandal of Apex Holdings Group had been exposed. By tomorrow morning, everyone would know about Apex Holdings Group's bankruptcy.

Raymond nodded and went straight into the elevator.

John wanted to mention that this would save the Fair family too.

After all, if everyone from Apex Holdings Group went to jail, the contract with the Fair family would be null and void.

But Raymond had said not to mention anything about the Fair family in front of him.

So John instinctively ignored the Fair family and wouldn't pay attention to them anymore.

Raymond stepped out of the elevator, walked to his room door, and paused for a few seconds, feeling a slight joy.

But when he opened the door, Selena, who was supposed to be waiting inside, wasn't there.

He frowned and checked the bathroom.

No one.

There was a small sticky note on the entrance.

[Looks like you won't be coming tonight. I have something to do, so I left.]

Raymond tore off the sticky note, glanced at it, sneered, and tossed it into the trash can.

He took out his phone and called Selena.

But Selena was with Philip, taking Lucas to the hospital.

Half an hour earlier, Lucas had called her, barely holding on, and then passed out.

Selena rushed to the location and found Philip still fighting with some people.

She wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but Philip's moves were swift and ruthless. He knocked down the last few people and then helped Lucas into her car.

Selena was startled to see Lucas, who was bruised and swollen beyond recognition.

Philip sat beside her, tasting blood in his mouth, and looked at her. "Drive."

From him, Selena felt a kind of ferocity, like a wolf king returning to its pack.

Lucas was in the back seat, burning up and starting to talk nonsense. "Don't hit me, I won't say anything. I won't call Penny."

Lucas, though a bit cowardly, had indeed held on and not called Selena this time.

Selena felt a bit guilty. This was all because of her; otherwise, Bert wouldn't have targeted such a small figure like him.

When Lucas was pushed into the emergency room, Selena's phone rang.

She had just pressed the answer button when the nurse asked, "Who is Lucas's family member?"

Selena was about to answer when Raymond's cold laugh came through the phone.

Even through the screen, Selena felt a chill run down her spine.

Raymond stated, "I'll give you an hour. Clean yourself up and come over."

With that, the call was disconnected.
