Chapter 1633 If You Like It, Take It

Paul's finger hovered over the screen, and a memory of finding Tan flashed through his mind.

That little dog had also hidden from people, trembling with fear.

Thinking of Tan softened his expression.

Initially, he had no intention of supporting her, but now he slipped an arm around her waist, holding her close.

His other hand continued scrolling through his contacts. He was at a private gathering with friends tonight and hadn't brought his driver. Now, he needed his driver to take Ann home.

Just as he dialed a number, a group of people approached, led by Alex.

Alex was chatting and laughing with someone, a cigarette between his fingers. Whatever he said must have been funny because his eyes crinkled with amusement, making the mole on his nose stand out even more.

Paul instinctively wrapped his coat around Ann just as the call connected. "Hey, come to the Sunset Hotel to pick someone up."

As soon as he finished speaking, he heard Alex's voice. "Paul?"

Alex noticed the woman in Paul's arms and squinted. "Who's this?"

If Alex found out it was Ann, he'd definitely tease him about it.

"A blind date."

The Adams family had indeed been setting him up on blind dates recently, listing several wealthy young women his age.

Alex sympathetically patted his shoulder, assuming the woman was drunk and trying to get intimate with Paul.

"Tough luck, but it's surprising you don't mind her. That's rare."

Someone called for Alex, and he waved. "I'm off to have dinner with some investors. Your thing with Elara is over, so if you don't mind this lady, give it a shot."

Paul didn't respond, and Alex moved closer, trying to see who the woman was.

Paul cut him off, "Not interested. If you like her, take her."

"No thanks, I've had enough trouble lately."

Alex stepped back, laughed, and walked away.

Paul held Ann, feeling a bit relieved.

He checked his phone. The driver should be here in a few minutes.

Ann's hand was still on his lower back, making him feel hot all over.

The alcohol was getting to Ann, and her throat felt like it was on fire.

"I really want some water." She suddenly said, her voice reaching his ear.

"Hold on."

Where was he supposed to find water now?

"I'm so thirsty." She looked up, her eyes glazed with drunkenness, unable to see who was in front of her.

"So thirsty, need water."

Paul turned his head away, pretending not to hear her.

People passing by recognized Paul and greeted him. Some who didn't know him even dared to ask for his Facebook.

Feeling annoyed, he dragged Ann behind a nearby pillar.

Ann stumbled several times as he pulled her.

Paul's brow furrowed, and he almost left her there, but then he remembered what happened at the Adams Villa.

He looked down at her, and just then, Ann looked up, their eyes meeting.

His fingers couldn't help but touch her cheek.

The spot where he had slapped her that day had turned red immediately.

She had looked at him with such a heartbroken expression, as if she had so much to say, but in the end, she just said, "Forget it."

Paul's fingers gently stroked her cheek as he asked, "Does it hurt?"

He was surprised by his own question and then pushed her away.

Ann stumbled back, hitting the pillar, the pain making her head buzz.

"I'll get you some water." With that, he turned and left.

A thousand feet away, there was a convenience store where he could buy bottled water.

He didn't look back at Ann.

The pain in her back cleared Ann's head a bit.

She looked around and realized she was no longer in the restroom, wondering how she had gotten here.

Did she forget?

She leaned against the pillar, feeling her stomach churn.

Not far away, Brody, who had just had a fight with Jessica, approached, holding his phone, his tone icy.

"Stop being unreasonable. I told you, that woman is just my secretary. She only started last week. How long are you going to keep this up?"

"Jessica, I've had enough of you. Don't think I don't know what you've been up to."

He hung up, his chest heaving with anger, and then he saw Ann leaning against the pillar.
