Chapter 302 Unfortunately, He Likes Olivia
Selena's body finally relaxed. She'd been a bit on edge, but seeing him act like his usual self put her at ease.
"They've moved out," Selena said. "I've been sleeping like a baby lately."
Raymond glanced up from his file. "That's good to hear."
Mia, sitting nearby, looked between them, wondering if she was imagining things or if there was some unspoken communication going on.
"Penny, later Raymond will be with Olivia. After we get off, come take a walk with me. The scenery here is gorgeous. My family’s well-off too, but we don’t get to hang out like this often. If you’re feeling uneasy, just stick with me."
Mia genuinely liked Selena. She was talented at painting, beautiful, and had a great personality.
Mia thought, 'If only she could be my sister-in-law.'
Unfortunately, Raymond was into Olivia.
Olivia was okay, but she never seemed as good as Penny.
Thanks to Mia, Selena felt more at ease.
As soon as the car stopped, Olivia was standing outside.
She looked frail, her eyes a bit red.
"Raymond," Olivia called softly, her voice tinged with tears.
Selena got goosebumps. Olivia must have been embarrassed by William at Ashbourne Manor and was now looking for Raymond to comfort her.
When the car door opened, Olivia saw Selena inside and her face immediately soured.
"Penny, have you found my cat?" Olivia asked.
Selena, being pulled out by Mia, heard Mia's innocent tone.
"What cat, Olivia?" Mia asked.
"She lost my cat," Olivia said, her gaze sharp. Seeing Mia and Selena's closeness made her uncomfortable.
"Mia, how do you know her?" Olivia asked.
Mia wasn't on great terms with Olivia; she actually preferred Selena.
"Penny has helped me revise my paintings a few times. She's really good at it, so I brought her over tonight for some good food," Mia said.
Olivia pursed her lips. When her cat went missing, she had threatened Selena to find it quickly or face trouble. But after being humiliated by William at Ashbourne Manor and crying her way home, she had forgotten about it. Now seeing Selena, her tone grew colder. "My cat is very expensive."
Selena found it amusing and responded nonchalantly, "So what?"
Olivia trembled with anger. "What do you mean?"
"Miss Stone, I told you, I didn't lose your cat. Your servant shifted the responsibility onto me. You just didn't believe me," Selena said.
"Olivia, there must be some misunderstanding. Penny is really nice. You should go home and ask that servant properly. And if your cat is lost, why are you even here?" Mia said.
The implication was that Olivia didn't seem to care much about the cat.
Olivia was so angry her scalp tingled, her eyes reddening further as she looked at Raymond. "Raymond."
Raymond, recalling William's harsh words, gently comforted her. "I'll have someone look for it. We'll find it tonight."
Only then did Olivia's expression improve significantly. She wanted to approach him but hesitated, remembering William's words.
Mia took the opportunity to pull Selena away, heading straight to the seafood area.
Selena noticed that Mia wasn't exaggerating at all. Inside this glass sunroom, there were dozens of fish tanks with various fresh seafood, and the prices were sky-high!
"Penny, I know you don't like Emily, and I don't either. But this gathering is really not to be missed. There will be professional chefs cooking on-site later; almost everyone in the circle has been invited. Raymond and Paul are good friends, so Raymond is here, too. Raymond usually doesn't like these kinds of events," Mia said, constantly chatting with Selena.
"I don't really like Olivia, either. I think she's just average. I heard she went abroad to study painting. Do you know Steve? Olivia wanted to be his apprentice back then and chased him abroad, but he said he had already taken his last student and wouldn't take her," Mia continued.
