Chapter 224 If You Get Rejected

Selena kept quiet as he focused on the documents, not wanting to interrupt him until they got to their destination.

Han got out of the car, thanked Raymond, and pointed to a villa in the distance.

"That's who you're looking for. We'll take Mr. Montague for a walk around here. I've done what your uncle asked. Go ahead."

Selena thanked Raymond and Han, then headed towards the villa.

But after a few steps, she heard Raymond call out.

"If you get turned away, just drop my name."

Selena was a bit taken aback. Did this boss have some connection with Raymond?

If so, this might be easier than she thought.

A smile spread across her face, and her eyes brightened.

"Thanks."

The midday sun was blazing, making her squint. Raymond looked away and kept chatting with the leaders next to him.

Selena reached the villa and rang the doorbell.

The place was impressive, and even through the half-high gate, she could see a rock garden.

The owner clearly had good taste.

After a bit, a servant came out, looking a bit puzzled.

"Who are you here to see?"

"Hi, I'm here to see Mr. Rockefeller. I heard he's home today, and I'd like to visit."

The servant hesitated for a moment before opening the gate.

"Mr. Rockefeller is home today. But he usually doesn't see people without an appointment. Come in, and I'll let him know you're here."

Selena's elegant and pleasant demeanor made the servant willing to make an exception.

Inside, Selena immediately noticed the garden's meticulous design, which included elements related to personal fortune.

Her teacher, Steve, was a famous painter, and as his only student, Selena knew a bit about this stuff.

As the doors opened, she saw a painting in the center, one of Steve's works.

This was a replica since the original was in a museum and couldn't be bought, no matter how rich you were. Many had asked Steve to make a replica back then.

Given Steve's status in the art world, this replica sold for a high price.

But Steve donated the money, though Selena never knew where.

Steve only made one replica, and she didn't expect it to be in Harrison's home.

Selena had an idea and looked up, meeting the gaze of a man in his fifties sitting in the tea room.

"Mr. Rockefeller, I didn't expect you to be a fan of Steve."

Harrison was surprised. Many domestic masters had replicated this painting, so how did Selena recognize it as Steve's work right away?

The painting wasn't signed, as Steve rarely bothered with that.

"How did you know?"

He initially thought the visitor might be that young man, but it turned out to be a young woman.

"He's my teacher. I was lucky enough to study under him for a while."

Steve, with his quirky temperament, rarely took on students. He had a predecessor whose name was never publicly revealed.

Seeing Selena now, Harrison was a bit shocked. Could this girl, who looked just over twenty, be Steve's last student?

"When my teacher made this replica, he studied the southern painting style for a long time. No wonder you dig it, living out here in the sticks. Ridgefield, being undeveloped, has many southern characteristics."

Harrison chuckled and pointed to the seat opposite him.

"Sit down. You're here about the flooring, right?"

Selena nodded, a bit embarrassed. "I didn't want to be turned away by you, Mr. Rockefeller, so I mentioned my teacher's name. I hope you don't mind."

She was so straightforward, with such clear eyes.

Harrison sighed. She was about the same age as his daughter.
