Chapter 369 Holding Some Grudges Against Raymond

Selena didn't feel embarrassed at all. After all, if Raymond could watch the Fair family go bankrupt without a second thought, there was no way he'd let Apex Holdings Group go under.

Deep down, he’d probably be thrilled to see Apex Holdings Group take down the Fair family, leaving them drowning in debt.

That way, his unwanted wife would be in a real mess. Even if William liked Selena, would he really cough up $1.4 billion for the Fair family?

First-round financing, second-round financing—the Fair family was practically getting scammed. Losing $1.4 billion just showed they had no business running a company.

Even if William did come up with the cash, it could drive a wedge between him and Selena. William was genuinely good to her; how could she let him shell out that kind of money?

Selena was sensible but couldn't help resenting Raymond. They were still married, yet he openly took Olivia everywhere, making Selena a laughingstock.

Three years ago, he ditched her to go abroad, making her a joke. Now, the Fair family's billion-dollar debt had his fingerprints all over it.

He'd always been ruthless towards the Fair family.

Selena lowered her gaze and forced a smile.

Raymond sensed her mood and paused.

But Selena had already smiled at Caterlington. "Apex Holdings Group has taken down so many companies; it's definitely tricky. Raymond's findings are his own, and he can give them to whoever he wants. Let's drop it."

Seeing the disappointment in Selena's eyes, Caterlington almost stopped breathing.

Was Raymond too heartless? He'd slept with Selena; what would be the harm in helping her out?

Besides, she was his wife!

Caterlington was now itching to see Raymond's reaction when he found out the truth.

Raymond noticed Caterlington's anxiety out of the corner of his eye, feeling even more uncomfortable. Who was Caterlington to be so anxious when Lucas wasn't?

Just then, a waiteress brought in some pastries, breaking the tension in the room.

Caterlington quickly placed a plate of pastries in front of Selena. "Try this."

There were about ten pastries, each in a different shape.

Selena picked up a cat-shaped one.

She nodded politely. "Thanks."

Beside her, Olivia shook Raymond's arm. "Raymond, can I have that cat-shaped one? I have a cat at home and I love cats."

Raymond glanced at Selena.

Selena immediately lowered her gaze and sensibly pushed the pastry over.

The waiteress, seeing this, quickly explained, "The shapes are different, but they taste the same."

Realizing she had said too much, she quickly left.

Raymond handed the cat-shaped pastry to Olivia.

Olivia smugly raised an eyebrow at Selena and started eating contentedly.

Selena pretended not to see her provocation; such behavior was really pointless.

Raymond already favored Olivia, so Selena couldn't understand why Olivia always did such things, which only lowered her own value.

She didn't react, but Caterlington was furious.

Olivia was so two-faced; how could Raymond stand her?

He took a deep breath and picked a rabbit-shaped pastry for Selena. "Have this one."

At the same time, Raymond pushed over a dog-shaped pastry that looked a lot like Max.

Raymond just pushed it over without saying a word, as if it was a casual gesture.

Selena didn't take it and instead accepted Caterlington's rabbit.

Caterlington sneered and glanced at Raymond. "Looks like Selena prefers rabbits. Dogs shed a lot and are useless."

He didn't know Selena had a dog, even though she had posted about it on Instagram. But Caterlington was the type who would rather go out partying than check social media.

Because Raymond's gesture of pushing the pastry was small, no one else noticed, including Olivia.

Now, hearing Caterlington mention dogs, everyone's attention turned to them.

Raymond leisurely took a sip of his drink. "A dog that pleases people is indeed useless."

This was a veiled insult to Caterlington, implying he was just trying to please Selena.

Honestly, this was the first time Caterlington had seen Raymond insult someone.

Selena was eating the rabbit-shaped pastry and almost choked when she heard this.

She had always known Raymond had a bit of an acid tongue.

Caterlington took a deep breath, expressionless. "I please Selena willingly, because her husband is useless."

Raymond frowned. What did this have to do with her husband?

He commented coldly, "Selena is indeed charming. Even though she's married, you're still eager."

Caterlington didn't feel affronted at all. "Of course, if I win Selena over, I'll definitely send her husband a banner."

For some reason, Raymond felt a pang in his chest and put down his glass.
