Chapter 50

Selena was really into him.

Raymond was caught off guard for a moment.

It wasn't the first time someone had confessed to him, and he usually turned them down without a second thought. But Selena was different.

They had slept together before.

Even though it wasn't Selena's first time, once a man and a woman had that kind of relationship, it was hard to act like nothing happened.

Selena, who had been close to him, was now in the position of an admirer.

Treating her like he did other women seemed cold.

So Raymond hesitated for a few seconds and then said calmly, "You know I'm married, right?"

Selena frowned. She knew, but weren't they just talking about the layout?

Raymond saw that Selena didn't get his hint and paused. "Actually, my wife and I are very much in love."

The word "in love" felt strange to Raymond.

Selena stared at him like, 'Are you serious?'

Selena, who was Raymond's wife herself, stood there, still thinking she might have imagined it.

She even thought maybe Raymond had lost his mind to say something like that.

But Raymond's face was serious; he wasn't joking. "Yeah, I think I have made myself clear. You get it, right?"

Selena really didn't catch Raymond's hint.

She started to replay every word she had exchanged with Raymond tonight, worried she had messed up somewhere.

As Raymond's employee, she needed to understand some of his thoughts.

Raymond saw her deep in thought and assumed she got it, so he said no more.

Selena stood there watching him leave, not understanding why she had heard such a string of confusing words when she just wanted an email account.

If he didn't want to give it, fine. She'd just post it on Facebook next time.

Selena couldn't chase after him; she had more important things to do.

When Selena got to her car, she saw Alice there.

Alice looked pitiful, and when she saw Selena, her eyes lit up. She glanced behind Selena but saw nothing.

"Selena, you're out. I was so scared. I thought something had happened to you," Alice said first.

"What are you doing here tonight? Are you okay? If Beatrice knew, she'd be so worried."

Selena's words made Alice feel worse, and Alice started having trouble breathing.

With Alice's condition, Selena swallowed the rest of her reproachful words and helped Alice into the car.

They quickly headed to the hospital.

"Alice, hang in there," Selena said.

Alice clutched her clothes as if she were about to suffocate.

Selena ran several red lights, driving faster than she ever had before, feeling a bit of a thrill.

When they arrived at the hospital, the emergency room doctor took one look and immediately sent Alice to the emergency room.

Selena sat in the quiet hospital corridor and decided to call James and Beatrice.

James and Beatrice arrived quickly. Twenty minutes later, the corridor echoed with hurried footsteps.

Beatrice was trembling with anger. She stood in front of Selena and slapped her. "Are you trying to kill her? Selena, I don't think I've ever wronged you. Why do you keep targeting Alice? Her body is already in such a state. Can you let her go? She just got out of the hospital, and you took her out running around. I was going crazy looking for her tonight!"

Selena had just run red lights in a hurry, and her limbs were still weak.

When you drove too fast, your brain felt a lack of oxygen, so she didn't have time to dodge Beatrice's slap.

Selena's face turned to the side, burning hot.

Instinctively, Selena looked at James, only to find a hint of blame in his eyes, which hurt more than the slap.

"Dad, do you also think I deliberately took Alice out?" Selena whimpered.
