Chapter 360 You Really Think Highly of Yourself
Lucas had a pack of tissues and a cheap umbrella in his hands.
He hurried over to Selena, held the umbrella over her, and handed her the tissues. "Feeling down?"
Selena was a bit taken aback by the voice. She looked up, saw him, and quickly wiped her tears, forcing a smile. "Lucas, what are you doing here?"
"I came to get some medicine for my sister. You know, she has a leg problem." He held the umbrella and sat down next to her. "The sun's brutal today, even this bench is hot. How can you sit here? What's up?"
Selena didn't think she was very close to Lucas, so she didn't feel the need to tell him about her family situation. "Just a little work issue."
Her emotions came quickly, but now that she ran into just an acquaintance, like Lucas, they faded just as fast.
Crying was something she could only fully indulge in when she was alone.
Not far away, Raymond had returned to his car.
He irritably unbuttoned a few buttons around his neck and frowned as he looked into the distance.
Selena, who had been crying just a moment ago, was now smiling.
The cheap umbrella was held over her head, but she didn't seem to care. She was happily chatting with Lucas.
Raymond averted his face, extinguishing the small spark of emotion he had felt.
Just then, Olivia called, asking him to come see her.
Olivia and James were not in the same hospital. Raymond didn't refuse and decided to drive there, his face already calm.
But after driving 300 feet, he couldn't help but glance at the rearview mirror.
In the mirror, he could only see two blurry figures, seemingly overlapping.
He thought, 'Kissing?'
He gripped the steering wheel tightly, feeling even more irritated.
His usually cold face became exceptionally frosty at that moment, and he almost rear-ended the car in front of him.
He stopped the car and raised his hands to rub his temples.
Olivia called again, asking where he was. "Almost there."
Since Raymond sent Sofia abroad, Olivia had grown cautious, feeling he was no longer on her side.
After being hospitalized for days, she was finally discharged today. If she stayed any longer, she feared losing Raymond.
When he arrived at the hospital, he helped her with the discharge procedures. Olivia linked her arm with his, sweetly following him to the car, feeling she had overthought things.
But once in the car, Raymond's phone rang. He put it on speaker since he was driving. It was Carter calling.
Carter asked scathingly, "Raymond, why did you fire Lillian? She cried to me for a long time, saying you fired her because of Selena. Lillian is my girlfriend."
Olivia was sitting in the passenger seat, and her smile instantly disappeared.
Carter continued to complain, "I even bought her a bag, and it didn't cheer her up. You should let her come back. Maybe there's some misunderstanding."
"Carter." Raymond's voice was serious and unwavering. "Maybe you should continue your training at the Montague Group to better hone your judgment."
Carter didn't dare to argue and hung up the phone dejectedly.
Thinking that the person who caused the problem should solve it, he called Selena.
"Carter."
"Can you please ask Raymond not to fire Lillian? Raymond fired her this morning because she said something about you."
Selena was a bit surprised.
She thought, 'Raymond, because of me? How could that be? Isn't Raymond known for being strict at the company? Lillian probably did something wrong herself.'
"Are you sure it's because of me?"
"I'm very sure. Can you please talk to Raymond? Please, for the sake of the favor I did for you before. Lillian has been causing a scene here for two hours."
Selena had no choice but to agree. "I'll talk to him, but I can't guarantee my words will have any effect."
She explained to Carter in advance, but Carter raised an eyebrow. "Don't underestimate yourself. You'll see if you try."
Coincidentally, Selena was standing across from the hospital, having taken a walk with Lucas.
After hanging up Carter's call, she saw Raymond's car.
She strode over and waved.
Raymond's car stopped, and the window rolled down. Selena immediately saw Olivia sitting in the passenger seat.
But Selena pretended not to see her and leaned slightly, looking at Raymond. "Carter said you fired his girlfriend because of me."
She actually found this hard to believe.
Raymond's gaze fell on Lucas, who was standing not far behind her.
The window rolled up instantly, and he said, "You really think highly of yourself."
