Chapter 14
Selena stopped drying her hair and immediately thought about that fancy car that got hit at the stadium earlier.
Wait, didn't that middle-aged lady say she'd cover the damages?
She frowned, threw on some clothes, and headed to the police station.
A cop said, "Ms. Fair, here are the accident photos of the car with license plate RM11111, and this is the surveillance video. At 6:20 PM, you hit the rear wing and left without leaving any contact info. The owner wants you to take full responsibility."
Selena's face darkened. She pointed at another car in the footage. "That lady was in a rush and said she'd pay for the damages to the car in front, so I left."
The cop replied, "Ms. Fair, the car owner is holding you responsible now. Here's the cost estimate from their insurance. Please check it."
The damage was $304,200.
Selena could pay it, but the more she thought about it, the more pissed she got. That arrogant woman from earlier just got away with it?
The cop continued, "Ms. Fair, if you don't..."
Before he could finish, a young officer walked in. "Ms. Fair, someone posted bail for you. You can leave now."
Selena was shocked. She hadn't told anyone about this. Who would bail her out?
Following the officer outside, she saw a black car parked nearby.
The young cop nodded at her. "It's probably your family."
Selena smiled at him, "Thanks, and sorry for the trouble."
After he left, she walked towards the car. Just as she was about to ask who it was, the door opened, and a hand yanked her inside.
Sensing danger, she screamed, "Help!"
A handkerchief with a strong smell was pressed against her nose and mouth. She struggled, but her strength faded, and she collapsed.
In a daze, she heard someone laughing and talking.
"Mr. Anderson is waiting at the hotel. Hurry up and take her there; he must be getting impatient."
"You gotta admit, she's smoking hot. No wonder Mr. Anderson wanted us to grab her after seeing the footage."
Was Joseph behind this?
She didn't expect that even with Raymond's name, Joseph wouldn't give up.
Selena pinched her palm, the pain clearing her foggy mind a bit.
If she ended up in Joseph's room, it'd be over for her.
When the car stopped, they dragged her out and into the hotel lobby.
Selena was too weak to move, held up by two men. Just as they were about to turn into a corridor leading to the VIP elevator, she heard a voice.
"Mr. Montague, we're really sorry. We've arranged for you to move to the presidential suite next door. I'll take you there," The hotel manager was beside him, trembling. "It was our mistake. Someone checked multiple times tonight and re-sanitized the room as per Mr. Walker's request, but we didn't expect the bathroom fixtures to suddenly break."
This had never happened before, and of course, it had to happen when Raymond was staying. The odds were worse than winning the lottery.
"Enough, stop following me," Raymond snapped, his hair still half-wet, his cold eyes showing his impatience. "Have the staff check the other rooms more thoroughly. Don't let this happen again."
"Yes, sir," The hotel manager wiped the sweat from his forehead, already sensing his career was on the line after screwing up in front of Raymond.
Raymond took the room card and turned down the corridor, heading towards a few people.
He didn't look closely and was about to head to the other elevator when someone suddenly collided with him, a fragrant body quickly wrapping around him.
Raymond's expression instantly darkened, his already stern face now icy.
Just as he was about to push away, he saw Selena's familiar face.
The guys holding Selena didn't expect her to do this and were intimidated by Raymond's presence, not daring to act rashly.
Selena, like a drowning person clutching at the last straw, used all her strength to hold tightly onto Raymond's waist. "Honey."
Raymond's body stiffened, and the two men were also stunned. They quickly withdrew their hands, which had been reaching out to grab her.
Joseph didn't mention that Selena had a husband, and now they were caught red-handed. What should they do?
Having been offended multiple times, Raymond's patience was at its limit. He raised his hand to pull Selena away, but then heard her whispering in his ear, "Help me."
Selena buried her face in Raymond's chest, her arms around his waist, trying to keep herself from collapsing.
She was trembling slightly from nervousness.
Raymond's raised hand paused, and he looked up at the two men, his gaze as sharp as a blade.
The two men's faces changed rapidly, making it hard not to notice.
Oppressed by his intimidating presence, they took a step back. Just then, the elevator not far away opened, and Joseph, who had been waiting inside, walked out.
Seeing Raymond, Joseph quickly approached.
Joseph, unable to resist his long-standing desire for Selena, had planned to have a one-night stand with her, but that wasn't enough. He had prepared a camera and hallucinogenic drugs.
He wanted to make Selena his plaything, recording the night so he could control her in the future.
This was the price for deceiving him!
Seeing Raymond, whom he had met earlier in the day, Joseph felt a moment of panic but quickly adjusted his expression and walked over with a smile. "Mr. Montague, Ms. Cooper is actually my girlfriend. She drank too much and caused some trouble."
Raymond glanced at the flushed Selena in his arms, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Girlfriend?
The hallucinogenic drugs were starting to take effect, and Selena's mind was getting foggy. She only remembered that Raymond was her only support at the moment. "Honey, he's lying. I'm not."
