Chapter 1388 As One, Even in Death
Atlas's eyes flickered with interest before breaking into a smile. "How could I forget about him? So, do you still want Selena to return to BK? We could simply hypnotize her and take the seal—save ourselves a lot of trouble."
Zaid absently rubbed his fingertips together. "Where's the fun in that? She's Barbara's daughter—her chosen heir. Don't you want to see how Selena's story ends?"
"Not particularly. Unlike you, I don't enjoy these games. I prefer efficiency—quick, ruthless, done."
Zaid fell silent, his eyes unnervingly calm.
Atlas, recognizing Zaid's unresolved issues, offered a light chuckle. "Whatever you decide, I'm with you."
Zaid stood up, his face expressionless. "Let's head back for the meeting with the other leaders. If Selena ultimately refuses to cooperate, we'll eliminate her. No one can know she exists."
"What about the jellyfish seal?"
"We'll figure that out later. With or without it, the others will follow our lead."
"Whatever you say, Zaid."
Atlas rose to follow him. The kitten on the floor tried to tag along, but Atlas merely glanced at it before examining the scratch on his hand.
Such a tiny creature, yet it had managed to wound him. Like Selena—full of surprises.
Selena checked Raymond's wound again, relieved to see it healing. Her anxiety finally subsided.
She studied the address Christopher had left behind. She suspected Barbara might have been the one who helped Christopher, but she needed proof.
No one knew where BK's headquarters was located. Perhaps this address would lead to Barbara, which would be invaluable. Barbara knew far more than any of them.
But first, Raymond needed to fully recover. She couldn't bear to see him risk his life again. Whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
At a secluded villa in Silver Bay City, Paul frowned at the man who suddenly appeared before him.
Since confirming Victor's identity, Raymond had informed Alex last night that Paul was still alive.
Alex had lost weight recently. Learning your childhood friend was actually your deepest enemy would break anyone.
He'd avoided social gatherings, constantly replaying every interaction with Victor in his mind, searching for signs he might have missed. When Raymond discovered the listening device on him, Alex had clung to a sliver of hope that someone else had planted it—that Victor wasn't involved.
But now Selena had been found, hypnotized by Victor—a key figure in the BK organization.
Alex knew little about this group, but when he heard Paul was alive, he couldn't stay away. He drove through the night to reach the villa.
Seeing Paul, he felt a lump in his throat.
"Damn it! The Adams family held your funeral, and here you are playing with women?"
Alex's anger was justified—he'd walked in on Paul kissing Ann, his hand firmly gripping her chin.
Paul frowned, releasing her as his expression darkened. "Who's this now?"
First that handsome guy showed up, now this one. Was Ann really that irresistible?
Seeing Alex arrive, Ann knew her protective mission was ending. She lowered her eyes, instinctively grabbing Paul's hand.
Paul sensed her unease and gently squeezed back. "What's wrong?"
Ann shook her head, forcing a smile.
