Chapter 229 Between Adults, It's Just Those Things

Selena felt super awkward standing there with just a towel on. Being seen like this by Raymond made her really shy.

Raymond was holding some ointment, wearing a shirt with a few buttons undone, showing off his collarbone.

She could barely see the bandages underneath.

Selena figured he came over for her to help with the ointment.

Their rooms were close, and she had bandaged him before.

She had no clue where John's room was, so it made sense for Raymond to come to her.

Raymond's eyes lingered on her for a second before he turned to head back to his room.

But Selena worried that if the ointment wasn't applied, his wound might get worse.

After all, he got whipped because of her.

"Are you here for the ointment? Come in."

She stepped aside.

Raymond paused, frowning a bit.

If it were any other woman dressed like this and inviting him in, he would think it was a hint.

Between adults, there were only so many things it could mean.

But this was Selena. The reason he fell for it that night was because her eyes were so pure.

Now, her invitation seemed to be out of concern for his wound.

Raymond hesitated for a moment, then heard footsteps coming from the other side.

"Raymond!"

He heard Rosalind calling, frowning even more, and walked straight inside.

As soon as the door closed, the footsteps outside got louder, and someone stopped outside his door.

"Raymond, do you want some fruit? My dad grows these huge strawberries."

At this hour, she clearly wasn't just offering strawberries.

Selena realized that because of Raymond's looks and status, every woman who saw him was almost always enthusiastic.

Yet, as his nominal wife, she often avoided him, eager to leave.

She found it amusing but then felt herself getting warm, realizing she wasn't wearing anything underneath.

Especially since Raymond was so close to her.

To ease the awkwardness, she pointed to the sofa inside.

"Please sit on the sofa."

Raymond didn't look at her, but her scent kept wafting into his nose.

Her scent was elegant and fresh, just like her.

If Rosalind weren't still outside, he would have just opened the door and left.

Selena had already walked to the sofa, the towel covering her from the breast down to her thighs, revealing her delicate shoulder blades and long, straight legs.

Raymond squinted his eyes. Did she really think it was okay to be in this state?

A married woman was interacting with her client like this.

Raymond walked over silently and started unbuttoning the rest of his shirt.

Seeing this, Selena inexplicably blushed, as they were both wearing very little.

His appearance was too striking, and his slender fingers unbuttoning the shirt had an irresistible allure.

Outside, Rosalind's persistent call of his name broke the room's subtle tension.

Selena quickly grabbed the ointment and began unwrapping his bandages.

Layer by layer, when she finally saw the wound, she held her breath.

The wound was still terrifying, slowly healing but still bloody.

Selena quickly squeezed some ointment onto her fingertips and gently applied it to the wound.

The moment her fingers touched him, Raymond's body stiffened, and he slightly tightened his lips.
