Chapter 170 She Was Caught Secretly Filming
"Can you just leave me alone? Don't you have enough problems in your own family? Stop bothering me, I'm outta here," Jacob snapped.
Selena's eyes narrowed. "I've already called the cops. If you leave, that woman’s going to jail."
Jacob's steps faltered, and his face twisted.
Selena stood firm and said, "I'll have someone take you back."
"You!" Jacob's tone softened. "Please stop meddling in my life. I'd rather starve outside than go back to that house."
Raymond's car window was open. He was there the last time Selena and Jacob argued.
But Raymond only caught bits and pieces. Besides, he really wasn't interested in their family drama.
Raymond didn't tell the driver to start the car, as the driver was still shaken from the recent scare.
Selena knew Raymond was still there and didn't want to keep embarrassing herself in front of him, so she made a phone call.
Soon, a car pulled up, and two burly bodyguards got out, grabbed Jacob, and tied up his hands and feet.
Jacob never expected Selena to go this far. He wanted to struggle, but seeing the muscles on the bodyguards, he was too scared to make a sound.
A typical coward with no backbone.
Selena made another call, informing Brian and Erin that she had found Jacob and sent him back.
Brian and Erin were incredulous and thought they owed Selena a lot. Erin brought up the matter of introducing her to a boyfriend again. "Selena, I've already looked into it. The guy is quite handsome and has no bad habits. When can you come down to meet him?"
Selena raised her hand to rub her temples and accidentally met Raymond's gaze.
His profile was sharp and refined, with the faint light from the car's roof casting a glow in his eyes. Maybe it was the pleasant night breeze, but although Erin's voice was in her ear, Selena didn't register it. Instead, she once again noticed how perfect Raymond's bone structure was.
From his hair to his fingertips, he seemed meticulously sculpted by God, the ideal model for an artist.
Selena declined Erin's offer, pretending she was still on the call, and held the phone in front of her. "Erin, I'm hanging up."
In fact, the call had ended a few seconds earlier. She opened the camera and took a picture of Raymond's current posture.
The moment the flash went off and the shutter sound was heard, Selena felt the world go so silent that she felt extremely embarrassed.
Raymond raised an eyebrow and looked up at her.
His fingers lightly tapped on the window frame, his wrist taut with an elegant fluidity.
He remained silent, and his cold demeanor pausing for a moment, a faint smile appearing in his eyes.
Selena's cheeks grew hot, and she awkwardly changed the subject. "Mr. Montague, I won't bother you anymore. I'm really sorry about earlier. I'll treat you to a meal another day."
With that, Selena almost fled into her own car, flooring the gas pedal, wishing she could escape this world right now.
'Why does something embarrassing always happen whenever I meet Raymond?' she wondered.
She drove to her newly purchased house in the neighborhood called Rose Garden.
As soon as Selena got off the elevator, she heard the sound of kissing. Carter and his new girlfriend Lillian were making out passionately at the door.
Selena felt incredibly unlucky. Retreating to the elevator didn't seem right, and ignoring them to go inside felt awkward.
But fortunately, Carter noticed someone approaching and quickly let go of Lillian. "Baby, I have to go now. See you tomorrow."
Lillian, blushing, reluctantly said goodbye.
After Carter left, Lillian greeted Selena, rubbing her blushed face. "Penny, are you free tonight? I'm feeling down."
Selena wasn't good at socializing, especially with someone she wasn't familiar with.
Besides, she had just gone through that embarrassing scene and wanted to be alone to think about how to face Raymond next time.
Selena was about to refuse, but Lillian said first, "Carter said you're his friend, and you're very talented and capable. He told me to learn from you."
A few words of praise made it hard for Selena to say no.
