Chapter 276 Unconsciously Blushing
Selena had no clue about her current expression, her eyes slightly red with anger from having her design questioned.
For a designer like her, this was worse than a direct insult.
Right now, there was no smile on her face, and her glassy eyes blinked twice.
"I wouldn't dare. I just heard Olivia calling you, knowing you have a date tonight."
Raymond just stared at her, his Adam's apple moving slightly after a long pause.
"Has your family had no objections to you staying in hotels since you got married?"
Selena was a bit thrown by his sudden change of topic but answered honestly, "My family’s had some issues recently, and this place is closer to the hospital."
"Why are you staying on my floor?"
He still hadn't swiped his card to open the door, just looking at her like that.
Standing there casually, he had a laid-back charm, but if you looked closer, you could see a sharpness in his eyes, like he wanted to see right through her.
"The room I booked had issues, so the hotel upgraded me to a suite to make up for it. No wonder it's a hotel under the Montague Group; the service is top-notch."
Selena said this with a genuine smile on her face.
As soon as she finished speaking, she felt a chill around her.
Raymond's nonchalance vanished, and his gaze turned icy.
"Is that the only reason?"
Selena didn't know what kind of answer he wanted. Was it wrong to praise the Montague Group?
Her mind raced, and she awkwardly bit her lip. "I don't get what you mean."
Raymond chuckled lightly, feeling a heavy pressure in his chest.
For the first time, he felt a bit angry, and it was an emotion brought out by a woman.
He withdrew his gaze and swiped his card to enter the room.
"Why did you come to see me tonight?"
Selena followed him in, speaking sincerely, "I want to hand over the design of Manston Manor to someone else."
Raymond paused in his steps. He didn't turn on the light, and Selena didn't take the initiative to do so either.
Selena stood behind him, not closing the door, so the light from the hallway shone through, casting their overlapping shadows in front of them.
Raymond looked at the shadows, his fingers slightly stiff at his side, while her voice continued from behind him.
"Olivia probably knows better designers. These are all the materials I've prepared so far. I'm not sure if the next designer can use them, but I'll hand them over to you first."
She walked past Raymond and placed the materials on the coffee table.
Because of the light from the hallway, the room wasn't dark.
The space was filled with her scent, blending with his, slowly settling.
Selena said, "I believe others can create a better design."
After placing the materials, she turned around, walked up to him, and smiled.
She didn't say anything bad about Olivia because she was his first love, and if she had, she probably wouldn't have left unscathed.
Raymond stood at the door, his suit wrapping his excellent physique, with his collarbone exposed due to the loosened tie.
Selena was about to walk past him, thinking she had explained everything clearly and didn't plan to say anything more.
He extended an arm, blocking her way. Reflexively, Selena tried to duck, but his arm lowered to keep blocking her. Her nose nearly brushed his suit, so she straightened and looked up at him.
Just in time, he lowered his dense eyelashes. The light from outside cast shadows on his face, making his features look sharp and cold, with a deep gaze like a vortex, pulling her in.
Their breaths intertwined, making her face heat up unconsciously.
Selena's hand at her side started to sweat slightly.
The room was dark, and the tension in the air enveloped them both, making it hard for her to breathe.
