Chapter 329 The Fair Family's Bankruptcy
With one hand holding the flowers, he was on the phone with the other. The call was from John.
John said, "Mr. Montague, here's the scoop: we intercepted the Fair family's business. Now James is in the hospital, and his assistant is running the show. They're about to sign a deal, but the company they're dealing with is blacklisted by our Montague Group. This project could lose billions. I doubt the Fair family has that kind of cash flow. If they sign, they're going bankrupt for sure."
John had just heard from a friend that the Fair family was about to sign the deal. Since it involved Selena, John thought he should give Raymond a heads-up.
But Raymond was fed up with the Fair family's antics. He stayed cool and replied, "The Fair family going bankrupt has nothing to do with me."
Selena overheard the words, and her steps faltered for a moment.
She turned her head and glanced at him.
Raymond seemed to notice her only then and casually looked away. He explained to John, "I'm at the hospital visiting Olivia. I'll hang up now."
After hanging up, he took the elevator with Selena.
Selena's mind kept replaying that sentence. Why would Raymond say such a thing? Did he get some news?
Raymond watched her through the elevator's reflection.
That night hadn't left a lasting impact on her. It made him feel a bit ridiculous; he even thought the next day that he should take responsibility for her. But now she had someone else responsible for her, so what did her actions that night mean?
Raymond had Paul delete the traces because he didn't want to be a guy who fussed over such things.
Lowering his eyelashes, Raymond looked very aloof.
"Mr. Montague," Selena called out as they were about to exit the elevator.
Raymond turned to look at her, his tone indifferent. "What is it?"
Selena asked, "What did you mean by what you just said? You worry about so many things. Does the Fair family have something to do with you?"
Selena's face remained calm. "I've been in the design industry for three years and have worked with many companies, including the Fair family. So I was just curious."
Because she was so straightforward, Raymond didn't notice anything unusual.
Raymond said, "The Fair family president is ill, and now an assistant is handling the affairs."
Assistant? If Selena remembered correctly, that should be Kenny. But when did the Fair family's projects fall under Kenny's control? He didn't have any shares, so how did he manage it?
A deep thought crossed her mind as she stepped out of the elevator, but she heard him say, "Remember to apologize to Olivia."
It seemed Raymond intended to hold onto this matter.
"Mr. Montague," Selena called out again, raising her hand to touch her neck. "Miss Stone got hurt, and I got hurt, too. At most, it was mutual fighting."
"I've seen the surveillance," Raymond interrupted. "Olivia didn't lay a hand on you. I'm considering that you're still handling the design of Manston Manor. I don't want you to be detained and end up with a criminal record, because it would complicate your life."
Selena had thought about this issue. Now Olivia could provide a medical report. She had a feeling that Raymond asking her to apologize was even helping her? After all, with him around, Olivia would at most give her a hard time verbally and wouldn't take it seriously. But was it possible? How could Raymond help her? Olivia was his first love.
Selena said nothing and silently returned to her ward.
Raymond stood outside in the hallway, not entering Olivia's ward for the moment but looking towards Selena's side.
She had been hospitalized alone for so long; no one came to see her? Even so, she still didn't want a divorce?
