Chapter 89 Not Going to Show It to Olivia?
Selena had been caught off guard, but now she was cool as a cucumber, flashing a proper smile. "I just feel like I accidentally overheard some of your family stuff, Mr. Montague, and I'm a bit at a loss," she explained.
If this news got out to the media, tomorrow's headlines would be all about Raymond.
The public had no clue about his marriage, and once they found out, it would be all over the place.
Raymond was the heir to the Montague Group, the youngest business whiz of his time, and had even made waves in Silicon Valley at a young age. Even the newspapers there had written about him, so no wonder William was always so proud of Raymond.
Raymond's private life naturally drew a ton of attention.
Raymond closed the file on his knee and said, "Ms. Cooper, you're not the type to gossip."
His tone was indifferent, and his gaze drifted to Ashbourne Manor outside.
John thought he was going to head inside, but Raymond just said, "Bring some of my clothes inside later."
John nodded, made a turn with the car, and politely said to Selena, "Ms. Fair, I'll drive you to your apartment."
Selena's apartment had already been sold, and she was just waiting to sign the contract. Perfect timing to go and finalize it.
Selena said, "Okay, thank you."
John responded, "Ms. Fair, we should be thanking you."
No one spoke in the car after that. When the car stopped at the apartment, the car that came to pick up Raymond had already arrived.
Raymond left quickly, and Selena stood in front of her car, making sure they were gone and wouldn't come back before calling the agent to say she could sign the contract now.
The agent had been waiting for her call, so the contract was signed in less than half an hour.
Selena just had to wait for the bank to transfer the money.
Selena drove back to Ashbourne Manor and saw Fiona anxiously waiting outside, which amused her.
Selena greeted, "Fiona."
Fiona craned her neck to look behind Selena, making sure no one else was there before she breathed a sigh of relief. "Ms. Fair, what happened?"
Selena replied, "Nothing, just worried Mr. Montague might come over. I have some things in the car; let someone bring them in."
Fiona hadn't really met Raymond before, and if she did suddenly, she would probably be nervous.
Now that Raymond wasn't coming, she relaxed a lot and led the servants to unload the car.
After putting the groceries in the fridge, she looked at the delicate handbag in her hand. "Ms. Fair, what's this?"
Selena glanced at the bag and remembered she still had Raymond's shirt.
"Please, give it to me; it's someone else's," she said, taking the bag. She headed back to her room to rest since the car ride had worn her out.
She slept until evening, freshened up, and went downstairs. Remembering what Raymond had said about sending his stuff over, she told Fiona, "Fiona, get the guest room farthest from the master bedroom ready. If Mr. Montague sends his things over, they'll probably end up in the master bedroom."
Fiona's face looked troubled, and after a moment, she sighed, "Ms. Fair, perhaps I should tell Mr. Montague about Mrs. Montague's attitude towards you? He always calls to check on you, thinking you and Mr. Raymond Montague are getting along well. Now Mrs. Montague won't even let you sleep together. Isn't this intentional bullying? It's simply not right for a hostess to be relegated to the guest room."
Fiona couldn't stand it anymore. She had been instructed by William to take care of Selena; over the years, Fiona had grown very fond of Selena, treating her like her own daughter.
Selena said, "Fiona, there's no need. Our marriage will end sooner or later, and I don't want any entanglements with him before the divorce. Not sleeping in the same room suits me just fine."
Fiona had no choice but to arrange for someone to prepare the room.
All of Selena's belongings were moved out of the master bedroom and into the room at the end of the hallway, the farthest distance between the two rooms.
In truth, Selena didn't have many possessions, so she packed up quickly.
Selena decided to sleep in the guest room that night. Before bed, she sent the renderings to Raymond. If he didn't respond like before, she might have to create a construction plan based on her renderings and find a construction team.
The next morning, when she woke up, Raymond had only replied with a simple message: [Okay.]
Selena felt a bit of a headache. It was the first time she had encountered such a casual client like Raymond.
Selena replied: [Mr. Montague, do you need to hire a third-party supervisor?]
A third-party supervisor was usually hired by the owner to monitor the construction process and provide real-time feedback to the client.
But Raymond probably didn't want to pay attention to this matter from start to finish, so his reply was quick: [No need.]
Selena wondered if Raymond would at least show the renderings to Olivia, considering the house was designed for Olivia.
