Chapter 1593 How to Drive a Person to Collapse

Elara knew exactly how to push someone to their breaking point. The more she played innocent, the angrier Ann became, until tears streamed down her face.

Ann lunged forward, ready to slap Elara, looking like a madwoman. Even Betty couldn't hold her back.

When someone lost their sanity, they became the most dangerous.

A sharp slap echoed through the room, freezing Ann in place. She clutched her face and looked at Paul, who had struck her.

Paul's expression was icy, but his voice was calm. "Had enough? This is the Adams Villa."

All of Ann's anger seemed to drain away. She held her face, feeling numb.

She didn't even know how to react. Something cold kept falling into her palm.

Paul's gaze flickered with discomfort. He had borne the weight of the entire Adams family from a young age, becoming the heir without ever disappointing anyone.

No matter what happened to the Adams family, he always handled it perfectly.

But now, Ann's eyes pierced him.

Her gaze was shattered, disbelieving, hollow, like a black hole sucking away all her emotions.

In an instant, she became numb, her eyes wide open, tears streaming down, not knowing what to do.

Paul took a deep breath, avoiding her eyes as if escaping, and pointed outside. "Get out."

Neither the Adams family nor the Reed family would believe that someone as educated as Elara would come to steal a dog. It was too absurd.

Seeing Ann get slapped, Betty was furious and wanted to retaliate, but Ann grabbed her hand.

"Ann?" Betty called softly.

Ann's lips trembled hoarsely. "Betty, let's go. I want to leave."

Betty felt a deep ache in her heart. She glanced at Elara, who provocatively raised an eyebrow.

Even as an outsider, Betty was shaking with anger.

Elara had indeed come to steal the dog and made those provocative statements, but no one believed Ann except her.

More importantly, Paul had unhesitatingly sided with Elara, even slapping Ann.

It seemed Ann had never been loved by anyone in her life.

Her family, her ex-boyfriend, her current boyfriend—everyone had abandoned her.

When she said she wanted to leave, it meant she was done. She didn't want to fight anymore.

She was so tired. Why did life have to be so exhausting?

Always so weak, unable to protect anything she wanted to protect.

"Okay, I'll take you away." Betty's voice was hoarse too. When someone was extremely sad, they couldn't control their overwhelming emotions.

Ann lowered her head, leaning on her crutch, and turned to leave, but then someone from the Reed family spoke up.

"Wait, you think you can just leave? Do you know where you are? You can't come and go as you please. The doctor will examine Elara, and if there's any issue with her face, we'll send you to jail."

Emily had had enough. If there weren't so many elders present tonight, she would have slapped Ann herself. After all, it wouldn't be the first time.

But seeing Paul slap Ann, she felt an unprecedented satisfaction.

What could hurt Ann more than this?

She quickly chimed in. "Exactly. Do you know how valuable Elara's face is? You're just jealous she's about to marry Paul. Let me tell you, Paul never liked you. He told me himself. You're not even worth one of Elara's fingers. You're disposable trash."

Paul glanced at Emily upon hearing this.

Emily raised an eyebrow and pursed her lips, saying no more.

Ann couldn't say a word. She didn't even look at Paul. Instead, she clung to Betty's arm, leaning on her crutch, and slowly walked out.

The Reeds wanted to step forward, but Nathan stopped them. "If you have any issues, you can call the cops. We'll provide the evidence then. The security in that neighborhood is top-notch, with surveillance everywhere. If you decide to go to court, just let us know."

Nathan's words were a reminder to Elara that there was surveillance. The act had gone far enough.

If the surveillance footage were exposed, the Adamswould see Elara for who she really was.

Elara was smart enough to understand the implications.

Ending things here was the best outcome for her.

After all, both the Reed and Adams families had seen Ann's breakdown. It would be nearly impossible for Ann to ever enter the Adams family again.

Elara's lips curved into a pitiful smile. "Let's not make this a bigger deal."

With her saying that, the Reedds had no choice but to drop it.

Ann was supported all the way to the outside of the Adams Villa, still feeling a deep chill.

"Ann?" Betty called out, but then felt a weight on her hand. Ann had fainted.
