Chapter 1492 Mario or Christopher—Who Are You Really?
But now, even if he wanted to leave the room, he had to ask the bodyguard at the door for permission.
Selena shot up from the bed when she heard the sound of someone hammering against the wall.
A door-sized hole was being carved out of one of the room's walls, and soon enough, someone installed an actual door in the opening.
Through this new door, she could see the room next door.
The adjacent room looked like a laboratory, filled with all sorts of bottles and jars.
Mario was there, dressed in a lab coat and wearing safety goggles, looking every bit like a sinister scientist.
Once the workers left, Selena cautiously approached him.
"Are you Mario or Christopher?"
Christopher was a genius when it came to pharmaceuticals, having worked alongside top researchers since his teenage years. Mario, on the other hand, was just a personality that had been brought into existence. How could he possibly know anything about pharmaceuticals?
Unless... he had somehow regained all of Christopher’s memories.
But was that even possible? If Mario was merely a newly formed personality, Christopher should have been the dominant one. Mario had no reason to push Christopher aside and take over the body entirely.
Mario stared at the test tube in his hand, ignoring her.
Selena stepped closer, watching him weigh and mix several substances.
She finally confirmed that Mario indeed had Christopher's memories.
"Do you have all of his memories, or just some?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Mario crushed the test tube in his hand.
"Do I need to poison you to shut you up?"
Selena took a cautious step back, but in the next second, Mario's hand was already gripping her jaw.
"Selena, in here, you do as I say. If I tell you to do something, you do it. If you make me unhappy, I promise..."
His gaze roamed over her body as he spoke, "I promise I'll make you unhappy too."
Selena felt violated by his gaze, a wave of disgust washing over her.
Mario tightened his grip on her jaw. "Are you waiting for Raymond to come save you? Forget it. I'll make sure he stays in Mystic Prison forever."
Selena struggled, hearing him add, "I can still let you move freely in this room. If you don't behave, I'll tie you to the bed."
Selena fell silent, her rational mind telling her that Mario was not to be provoked.
Mario released her jaw and quickly adjusted the new formula.
Selena sat nearby, feeling his gaze on her stomach. She instinctively tried to run, but Mario grabbed her waist.
"If you take this, the baby in your stomach will be gone."
"Get away from me!"
She pounded on him, keeping her mouth tightly shut.
Mario dislocated her jaw without hesitation.
A wave of intense pain hit her, and she stared at him with a mix of fear and loathing.
Mario sneered and forced the medicine into her mouth.
Selena refused to swallow, but he made her do it.
She pushed him away and ran to the bathroom, desperately trying to induce vomiting.
Mario stood at the door, his tone indifferent, "Even a drop of that, and the baby won't survive."
"Mario!"
Summoning strength from somewhere, she threw a bottle of shampoo at Mario's head.
It didn't hurt, but the humiliation was palpable.
Mario clutched his head, sneering, "Let's see if you still have the strength to talk to me later."
Selena's face turned pale, her hands trembling as she touched her stomach.
Mario casually turned back to the lab to continue his work.
Selena followed him out, her voice hoarse, "I beg you, don't hurt the baby."
Mario remained unmoved, his safety goggles making him look even more detached.
"Mario, what do you want? What do I have to do for you to spare the baby?"
A drip bottle was thrown to the ground, its shattered pieces nearly cutting her.
"Spare your baby? Who do you think you are to beg me? Selena, I wish you and Raymond were dead."
