Chapter 115 Play along with Selena

When Mia said that, her voice softened, and she looked at Max with even more affection.

"Max is just like that little dog, so adorable. Penny, where do you live? Can I come over often to play with him?"

Mia glanced behind Selena. The road seemed to lead to a villa, one of the pricier ones in Silver Bay City.

This area was prime real estate. When it first went on sale, the best villas were basically pre-sold. Seeing Penny come out from here, it seemed her family was pretty well-off.

Selena noticed Mia's thoughts and quickly explained, "We just happened to pass by here. This route is great for walking dogs, and the scenery is nice. I don't live here; I'm renting a place nearby and will be moving soon. I'll let you know once I settle down."

Mia didn't doubt her and kept playing with Max.

Selena looked at the drawing board behind Mia and saw that her painting was only half-finished, meaning she hadn't been here long.

"Aren't you going to keep painting?" Selena asked.

Mia reluctantly moved her hand away from Max's head and picked up her paintbrush, looking a bit annoyed.

"I don't have time tonight. I need to finish it now; it's due tomorrow," Mia replied.

"I'll take Max for a walk elsewhere. By the way, happy birthday. I'll give you your gift later," Selena said.

Since it was a birthday party, a gift was definitely needed.

Selena had prepared all her practice calligraphy works.

Mia lacked for nothing, so giving jewelry or something similar would seem too ordinary.

"Okay, thanks. If you're still renting, don't choose something too expensive. I really don't need anything."

"Don't worry, you'll like it."

After a few more pleasantries, Selena didn't dare stay any longer, worried about running into more acquaintances.

Selena pulled Max to head back, but just as they were about to reach Ashbourne Manor, she saw Raymond's car slowly pass by, heading towards the manor.

Selena froze, almost instinctively stopping and pulling Max behind a large tree.

Did Raymond already know her identity now? Was he here to confront her?

John, who was driving, saw Selena and glanced in the rearview mirror, unsure if he should say something since Raymond was still in a meeting.

Raymond caught a glimpse of a shadow outside the window and thought he might have been mistaken.

He wanted to look again, but the car had already moved some distance, and Selena's shadow disappeared from the mirror.

"Mr. Montague, it was Ms. Cooper. She seemed to be walking a dog," John said.

It seemed he hadn't been mistaken. A hint of curiosity flashed in Raymond's eyes, but he didn't think much more of it.

When the car arrived at Ashbourne Manor, he got out.

Fiona, who was guarding the door, was startled to see him return. "Mr. Montague."

Raymond rarely came back during the day, so why was he back so early today?

Raymond entered the living room and found that Selena wasn't there. His brow furrowed; why was she often not at home?

William hadn't mentioned that she had any fixed job; she was only doing part-time work.

After all, the Montague Family could provide her with a very comfortable life.

"Where is she?" Raymond asked.

Fiona, respectful and cautious, didn't dare say that Selena was out walking the dog, as Raymond might get furious knowing there was a dog in Ashbourne Manor.

"Ms. Fair had something to do and is still out. She should be back soon."

"Okay."

Raymond's tone was cold as he sat down, seemingly waiting for Selena to return.

William had requested that Raymond and Selena go together, so tonight Selena had to ride in his car.

Though he was very reluctant, he had to play along with Selena for William's sake.
