Chapter 1474 Blind to His Schemes
Selena walked over and checked their injuries.
She said calmly, "We need to find a place to hide. The island's a mess tonight, and we're being hunted."
She held a gun, her face calm. "Mario, help him up."
Mario whined, "Selena, I'm starving."
After rolling around on the ground for so long, Emilio hadn't given him anything to eat. He was genuinely hungry and felt feverish, his body burning up.
Selena quickly pulled out a bottle of warm milk and handed him a few crackers.
This took about five minutes.
Mario grinned. "You're the best."
Mario, now full and energized, helped Emilio up.
Selena led the way with her gun.
Emilio limped along, glancing at Selena and then at Mario, who was silently supporting him.
To be precise, both of them were clueless.
They had no idea how he had manipulated them.
Tonight's events were unexpected, but it was an opportunity to gather information about the jellyfish seal.
And he wouldn't die. His constitution had always been different from others since childhood.
Even if he was barely alive, he could survive if left in some corner.
However, he was acutely aware of the pain. Despite the agony, he didn't forget to ask.
"Why are these people targeting us, Selena? Do you have something on you?"
The three of them had reached an alley, and they could still hear explosions behind them.
It seemed the small villa they had just been in had been blown up.
"Selena, where are we headed now?"
He was familiar with the layout of Mystic Prison and knew a few places where they could hide from those people, but he couldn't reveal them.
Selena remained silent, likely in a bad mood. She had killed many people tonight, and her hand holding the gun was trembling.
Tonight had turned her understanding of the world upside down. She had never encountered such genuine, heart-pounding combat anywhere else.
They walked until they reached a dilapidated bridge. She finally stopped.
The location of the bridge was excellent, with cover all around, and it was quite clean. If you didn't get close, you wouldn't see the tent she had set up.
Emilio was somewhat surprised.
Selena set up the tent and helped both him and Mario inside.
Many homeless people on the island lived under bridges or in tunnels.
Even if those people wanted to find her, it would take some time to search each place, and this bridge was well-hidden. They were temporarily safe.
Selena took out fever medicine and fed it to Mario.
"Get some rest."
Mario nodded and immediately fell asleep.
The ground was covered with a blanket Selena had brought, along with some dry food, water, and the medicine Emilio had bought earlier. They had nothing else.
Selena placed the gun beside her and began to check Emilio's wound.
He was only injured at the knee, and the bullet was still inside, making it difficult to remove, but it had to come out.
"Emilio, bear with me."
She left the tent and selected a clean stick from the riverbed outside, placing it in his mouth to bite down on.
"The bullet has to come out. I can't take you to a hospital, so I'll have to do it myself."
Emilio nodded, and the next second, she reached out and touched his head.
"If it hurts too much, just scream."
Emilio's face turned red instantly, and he swatted her hand away.
Realizing he had overreacted, he quickly explained, "It's fine, I'm not afraid of pain."
He turned his head away, frowning, avoiding looking at Selena.
Selena held a knife, carefully examining the bullet wound, thinking about how to extract the bullet as quickly as possible.
Emilio stared into the distance, feeling his flesh being pierced by something sharp.
The bullet was extracted and fell to the ground, covered in blood.
Selena's forehead was sweaty, and she wiped it with her sleeve.
She then began to disinfect the wound.
"Emilio, are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"Actually, I shouldn't have brought you to the island. I'll deal with the tattoo on your neck later. You didn't need to come here and risk your life. Tonight was just a minor incident; it might be even more dangerous in the future."
Emilio's eyelashes trembled, and his hand hanging to the side slowly clenched.
Selena finished bandaging the wound and heard him ask, "Why are those people after you? Do you have something on you?"
Was it the jellyfish seal?
"I don't know, but the island's forces are probably related to BK, a mysterious organization. My mom did leave me something, a seal, which should be very important. If I can join that organization in the future, maybe your tattoo can be dealt with."
Emilio sneered inwardly, 'How naive!'
