Chapter 185 He Would Never Touch Selena
Selena quickly walked to the door and then heard footsteps coming from the stairs. She cracked the door open and caught a man's voice, "Does someone have a dog here?"
It was Raymond.
Selena quickly ducked back into the room and shut the door.
Fiona was about to deny it, but the barking gave it away. What was going on?
Raymond's face turned dark. "Get rid of it."
Fiona didn't dare to respond. She waited until Raymond entered the room before rushing downstairs.
Selena came out and grabbed her. "Fiona, didn't you lock up Max?"
Fiona rubbed her forehead, looking guilty. "I must've forgotten. Max is pretty clever now; if it's not double-locked, he can open it himself."
Fiona hurried downstairs, adding, "Ms. Fair, don't worry, I'll lock him up right away."
Selena's heart was racing. She glanced at the tightly closed door down the hallway and urged, "Hurry, don't let Mr. Montague find out."
Fiona nodded and headed to the garden.
Max had been staying at Selena's new place for the past couple of days. The house was nice, but it didn't compare to this big garden.
So as soon as they got back, he opened the door himself and was happily running around the garden.
Fiona was worried Max would be discovered and didn't dare to scold him. She quickly walked over and led him away.
Raymond was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window. He didn't see the dog, but he heard a few more barks, probably from a servant's pet.
He ignored it and turned back to the meeting.
Just as he turned, Max was led past the window.
"Mr. Montague, the planning proposal for Ridgefield is done. Several leaders have offered new incentives. Initially, we wanted to develop it into a tourist spot, but the planning department has added a few new points. I've sent the details to your email," said one of the team members over the video call.
Raymond opened the email and looked at the new points.
Ridgefield had natural scenery and hadn't been touched by commercial influences, offering great development potential. The local government was very supportive. During his last visit, the feedback was very positive.
The planning department had now added policies to support agriculture, allowing for the development of orchards in the area.
Ridgefield was far from the city, and although there were a few fruit farmers, the annual transportation costs were a significant issue.
Raymond's email also contained sincere suggestions from several leaders he had dined with, hoping he would visit again.
If he went this time, it would finalize all the plans for Ridgefield's development.
Those leaders were high achievers. Raymond was always humble in front of those who genuinely cared for the people.
The new points added by the planning department were good, but they needed to be combined with the local production capacity.
If the production was high, they could set up a production line. If it was low, they could integrate it with tourism, allowing visitors to experience the orchards, which would also attract tourists.
So this trip to Ridgefield was a must for Raymond.
He called John to add this to the schedule, and the meeting ended.
It was already 10 PM.
Raymond rubbed his temples, stood up, unbuttoned his shirt, and went to take a shower.
When he came out, he casually picked up a file to read before bed, but his eyes caught something on the nightstand.
His expression turned cold as he picked up the item and saw it was a sexual object. He sneered.
Was this William's doing?
With a look of disdain, Raymond threw it into the trash can, more determined than ever that he wouldn't touch Selena during the contract period.
