Chapter 64 The Wedding Room
Outside, the rain kept pouring down, and Selena's voice was crystal clear in the quiet car.
Raymond's fingers paused, and a weird look flashed in his eyes.
Selena didn't notice Raymond's reaction; she had just thrown out a casual compliment.
She closed her eyes, hoping to catch a quick nap, but the car jolted just then.
Her head leaned towards Raymond, closing the gap between them.
On a rainy day like this, traffic jams were everywhere on the slippery roads.
After being stuck for half an hour, the car finally started moving slowly.
To avoid the awkwardness of being alone with Raymond, Selena decided to close her eyes and take a light nap during that half hour.
She hadn't been sleeping well lately, and the sound of the rain was pretty hypnotic, so she dozed off without realizing it.
Up front, John was oblivious to the vibe in the back until he saw another car breaking traffic rules in the rearview mirror.
In a flash, it crashed into them, making the whole car jolt forward.
Selena woke up with a start and was about to hit the car window hard.
Raymond frowned and pulled her back.
Her soft body, following the inertia, fell right over.
Selena, still half-asleep, felt like she had touched a warm, special pillow. Instinctively, she reached out to hug it, snuggled a bit, and fell back asleep in a comfy position.
Raymond's action of grabbing her arm froze instantly. She fell into his arms, and her breath was now conveniently on his crotch.
That was the most sensitive spot for a guy.
Raymond squinted and looked down at Selena.
She was sleeping soundly, her long hair spread out, showing a delicate and small side face, with faint dark circles under her eyes.
The dim light in the car made her look quiet, fragile, and captivating.
Raymond stared at her for a while, decided not to bother her, and turned his head to look out the window, trying to calm the desire that had been stirred up in him.
When Selena woke up, she raised her hand to rub her eyes.
Noticing a chin in her view, she froze and quickly got up.
Raymond frowned and slightly raised his chin. "We're here. Get out."
It was hard to tell if he was angry or feeling something else.
The rain outside had already stopped.
Selena blushed. "Mr. Montague, see you next time."
Feeling a bit awkward, she thanked him without daring to look at his expression. After getting out of the car, she almost ran into her apartment without looking back.
Before entering the room, Selena felt something was off.
The door, which should have been tightly closed, was now slightly ajar. Standing at the door, she had already shaken off the earlier awkwardness and cautiously pushed it open.
The apartment was a mess, like a thief had broken in.
The bedroom door was also slightly open, but she didn't dare to go in and quickly called the police.
When the police arrived, she followed them inside, and after ensuring nothing was stolen, she breathed a sigh of relief.
But the apartment was clearly no longer safe. If the thief came again and she happened to be inside, what would happen then?
Selena shuddered at the thought of facing that scene alone; it was truly terrifying.
She packed a few clothes and took all the things she needed for work.
By the time she took a cab to the entrance of Ashbourne Manor, it was already late.
Selena paid the fare; the guard at the gate, seeing her, immediately opened the door respectfully.
This was the house William had given them as a wedding gift when she and Raymond got married, but Raymond had gone abroad and probably didn't know about the existence of this house.
