Chapter 235 Going to Meet Raymond Again
Brian and Erin both stared at Selena, hoping she'd come up with a miracle solution.
Meanwhile, Jacob was practically glued to her back, making the whole scene look kinda ridiculous.
The neighbors were all pointing and whispering, making Brian's face turn beet red.
After that last fiasco with the house, the neighbors had plenty to gripe about. Brian knew he messed up and didn't have the guts to face them.
Even if the house was gonna get torn down, they'd still have to wait for the government to step in. Until then, they were stuck living here.
A few guys saw how scared Jacob was and couldn't resist taking a jab at him.
"With that kind of courage, how'd you even dare to make a move?"
Jacob just stiffened up and stayed quiet, but then Selena cut in coldly, "If you're not gonna explain yourself, I'm outta here. It's clear they're here for you. They probably won't touch Brian and Erin. I've been waiting for you to learn your lesson."
Jacob clung to her arm, feeling both embarrassed and scared, not daring to let go.
Selena took a deep breath, yanked her arm free, and started to walk away.
"Selena!" Jacob chased after her. "I'm your cousin! Are you really gonna let them beat me to death?"
"Jacob, if you wanna stay alive, you need to come clean. Right now, they just want an explanation. If the cops take you, even if Uncle sells this house, he won't be able to bail you out."
Just as she finished talking, a few cops showed up and slapped handcuffs on Jacob without a word.
Jacob's face went pale, and his legs turned to jelly.
"Mom, Dad, you gotta save me. I don't wanna go to jail. Selena, I'm your cousin, remember?"
Selena was just as shocked, not expecting the cops to show up so fast.
Erin grabbed her arm, crying. "Selena, please. Don't you know Raymond? He knows the big shots. Can you ask him for help? If Jacob goes to jail, his life is over."
Selena felt super annoyed, but seeing Erin in tears, she had no choice but to say, "I'll try."
The cops had already taken Jacob away, with those thugs following, clearly planning to rough him up first.
Jacob was so scared he kept yelling, and Brian had no choice but to follow, begging them not to hurt him.
But once they got into the police car, Brian was helpless, just standing there, his face twitching with worry.
Erin kept pleading with Selena, tears streaming down her face.
"Jacob just got back, and if something happens to him, I don't wanna live either."
Selena couldn't just stand by and do nothing. No matter how much she disliked Jacob, she had to remember Brian and Erin's kindness.
"Stop crying. I'll give it a shot. He hit the leader's son, so you know they've already greased the cops. Money won't help; they probably don't need it."
Erin knew this too and cried even harder.
Selena had no choice but to go see Raymond again.
After all, this so-called leader won't take her seriously, only Raymond.
Thinking about last night made her feel awkward.
She hesitated for a few minutes before calling Han.
Han was always with the big shots and knew Raymond's whereabouts.
When he heard she wanted to find Raymond, he gave her the location.
It was a fancy restaurant, only serving a few tables a day, inside the chef's villa.
Selena rushed over. But since she didn't know the big shots, she had to call Raymond again.
Raymond was sitting with Rosalind. In front of the big shots, Rosalind was much more reserved, just quietly sitting with him.
When Raymond's phone rang, she thought he'd get up to answer it.
But he just glanced at it, then hung up and placed the phone face down on the table.
