Chapter 1628 You Look Very Much Like the Person I'm Looking For

Another week went by, and there was still no sign of Raymond.

Selena, now pregnant and stuck in a place ravaged by disease, was convinced to return to Vistalia. Her mental state, however, was far from stable.

A team stayed behind, continuing the search for Raymond. Every day, new bodies were unearthed and reported.

When Selena returned to the Smith Villa, she felt like her legs could barely hold her up.

Calla had just arrived and was immediately pulled aside to prepare an antidote for Jason.

The moment she saw Jason, she froze, something flickering in her mind.

She glanced around the room, and distant memories began to surface.

Richard, who was pacing anxiously nearby, spoke up. "Dr. Griffin, can you make this antidote?"

"Yeah," She replied calmly, listing several ingredients. "Get these ready, and I can have the antidote prepared in three days."

"That's fantastic!" Richard's eyes lit up, and he quickly ordered the necessary preparations.

Calla didn't linger. After concocting the antidote, she administered it to Jason.

But that very afternoon, news came from Mystic Prison: Octavia was dead.

The death was sudden and inexplicable.

Richard was shocked and immediately demanded an explanation.

"Mr. Smith, we don't know. No one touched her. Everything was the same as yesterday, but she just collapsed."

Richard's mind was in turmoil, and he decided to head to Mystic Prison.

Selena insisted on going with him when she heard the news.

Richard was worried about her, knowing how much Octavia meant to her. If not for the hope of finding Octavia, Selena wouldn't have come this far.

In the end, Selena went along, and Calla joined them too.

Since arriving at the Smith Villa, Calla had been silent, focused solely on her work, avoiding interaction with others.

Selena occasionally felt Calla's gaze on her, a look filled with complexity, as if there were many unspoken words.

Yesterday, Selena finally confronted her. "Do you know me?"

Calla had simply shaken her head and smiled faintly. "You remind me of someone I'm looking for."

"Who are you looking for?"

"My daughter," Calla replied, staring into the distance. "But I don't think I'll ever find her."

Even if they stood face to face, things could never go back to the way they were.

Selena assumed Calla's daughter was dead and didn't press further.

Now, with Calla accompanying them to Mystic Prison, Selena didn't object.

When they arrived at Mystic Prison, the construction crew was already there, looking uneasy.

They had been responsible for watching Octavia, and now she was inexplicably dead.

Selena hurried to the woman lying on the bed.

Octavia had aged significantly. Her eyes were still covered with a silk scarf, blind and deaf, fearful of human contact.

Selena had always believed she could save her, but seeing the lifeless body, she realized she would never find Barbara again.

From the year Barbara left, she had been lost forever.

Selena reached out to hold Octavia's hand, something she only dared to do now that she was gone.

If Octavia were alive, she would have recoiled.

Octavia's hand was cold and stiff.

Selena could only hold it for a moment before she couldn't bear it any longer, her fingers trembling uncontrollably.

"Burn it all down. If it can't be dismantled, destroy it," She said, her voice choked with emotion. She turned and met Calla's gaze.
