Chapter 1490 Enveloped by Uncertainty
"I'll come back alive."
Raymond left those words behind and instructed the others to find a safe, remote location, leaving a few people to look after Eldon.
Eldon sat there, unable to hold back a final piece of advice.
"Leo Schmidt on the inner island, he and I get along pretty well. If you run into any trouble you can't handle, you can ask him for help. But let me tell you, you've been to the inner island, you know those families are a bunch of selfish bastards. You're bound to run into a lot of trouble. And your girl, if she's plain-looking, fine, but if she's pretty, those people won't leave her alone."
Raymond's eyes flashed with a sharp glint, causing Eldon to take several steps back in fear.
"What's the point of glaring at me? You know the rules here. The class system is fixed. The big families do whatever they want, and no one stops them. They are the law. To them, an ordinary pretty woman is just a toy."
As harsh as it sounded, it was the truth.
For a hundred years in Mystic Prison, the wealthy have always been the same group of people. Ordinary folks have no chance to change their status.
The higher-ups wouldn't allow it anyway, as they rely on these people to keep Mystic Prison running.
Raymond loaded several bullets into his gun.
Eldon continued, "So when you showed up on the inner island before, those people were terrified. They were afraid you'd take their resources. For a hundred years, no one has ever made them so scared. Whether it's your wealth, your abilities, or anything else, it would make the ordinary people on the inner island want to follow you. If enough people follow you, you'd form a new family, naturally taking away resources."
Those people are used to being domineering and would never allow that.
Raymond looked down at his gun, wondering what Mario was planning. He had to go to the inner island first.
After getting in the car, Eldon stood outside, looking up at the sky.
"Raymond, I'll wait for you here. If you come back, I might be able to leave this island."
Raymond nodded and raised the car window without hesitation.
The most troublesome thing about Mystic Prison was the inability to communicate with the outside world. Otherwise, he would have called his people over long ago.
The driver in the front couldn't help but speak up, "Mr. Montague, the group that attacked the Soto family tonight is very powerful, and there are many helicopters in the sky. Mystic Prison is in for some big trouble."
Raymond rubbed his temples. The most important thing now was to find Selena.
The car drove towards the inner island. The toll to pass was higher, and each person had to be checked individually.
When the guards saw Raymond in his black robe, they became noticeably more respectful.
Raymond looked outside, his hand slowly clenching at his side.
He wondered, 'Mario, what are you up to?'
Meanwhile, when Selena woke up, it was already daylight outside.
She heard people talking.
"Take good care of the guest inside. She's important."
"I don't know what the boss is thinking, treating an outsider as a VIP."
Selena's eyelashes fluttered as she slowly pushed herself up against the wall.
The servant saw she was awake and immediately became arrogant.
"Now that you're up, eat something. Don't think you're some big shot."
A tray was thrown in front of Selena, with a bowl of porridge that had spilled and looked dirty.
She didn't eat, and the servant snorted.
"Don't think that just because you're close to Mr. Torres, we'll treat you nicely. On the inner island, our families are the ones in charge."
The inner island?
She had come to the inner island?
Why did Mario bring her here?
She felt like she was shrouded in a fog, unable to see clearly.
