Chapter 322 Her Vision Suddenly Became Blurry!

Beatrice couldn't stand them, either; she downright hated them. How did two broke robbers end up in the Fair family?

From the second they stepped into the villa, their eyes were filled with greed, clearly eyeing the place.

But to get back at Selena, Beatrice had to play along. "Mom, you're right. How much is left on Steven's mortgage?"

Victoria replied, "$400,000, with a monthly payment of $4,500. He's almost fifty now, and the company's been laying people off. If he loses his job, he won't be able to pay the mortgage. You need to come up with $450,000 so he can pay it off."

Beatrice grinned and pulled out a card. "This card has $450,000 on it. That should cover his mortgage."

Victoria's eyes lit up as she didn't expect Beatrice to hand over the money so easily.

She quickly snatched the card and shot Selena a nasty look.

Selena stood in the hall, unable to do anything about it.

After all, Beatrice was James's legal wife and protected by law. Plus, Beatrice held ten percent of the Fair family's shares. If she wanted to give $450,000, Selena couldn't stop her.

Victoria was thrilled to get the money but soon regretted it. If she'd known Beatrice would give the money so quickly, she would've asked for $700,000.

At that moment, she realized just how rich James's family was. They could hand over $450,000 without blinking.

Thinking that Beatrice had given birth to a daughter, Victoria had an idea: Why not adopt Steven's youngest son to James and have Steven's whole family move into the villa? That way, the whole family could live the good life.

Victoria felt pleased at her brilliant idea, but she needed to talk it over with Steven first.

Steven was probably still at work.

Victoria and Arthur exchanged a glance, temporarily satisfied with the amount of money Beatrice gave them.

They planned to discuss it with Steven tonight and move into the villa as soon as possible.

As for James, who was in the hospital, Victoria didn't care about his well-being at all.

James was truly unfilial, living a good life for so many years without thinking of helping his family.

Victoria said, "Alright, your dad and I will head back tonight. We have something to discuss with Steven and will come back tomorrow."

She hurriedly stuffed the card into her pocket and gave Selena a fierce look before dragging Arthur away.

Selena felt very uncomfortable and looked at Beatrice. "Aunt Beatrice, what does this mean?"

Beatrice smiled innocently. "You saw it yourself. After all, they are my parents; I can't just kick them out. What if your dad wakes up and blames me?"

James had told Beatrice about his family before. Victoria and Arthur were extremely biased towards Steven and had long since driven James and Barbara to the side house.

If James were awake, he might help Steven pay off the mortgage but would never let them mess around in the Fair family.

Selena took a deep breath, feeling powerless about the situation. She stood in the Fair family but clearly felt like an outsider.

Selena had no shares in her hands. The ten percent of shares Barbara left behind had been temporarily transferred to Beatrice by James.

Selena grabbed her bag and heard Beatrice speak, "Your grandparents will come again tomorrow. If they continue to ask me for money or try to take other things from the Fair family, I won't dare to stop them. Selena, I must trouble you with this matter. You should visit the Fair family more often these days."

Selena pulled her lips into a blank expression. "This seems out of Aunt Beatrice's character."

Beatrice said, "After all, I'm supposed to respect them."

Then Selena turned to leave. As soon as she got into her car, she realized someone was in her back seat.

But the person didn't give Selena a chance to react, directly covering her nose with a handkerchief. A pungent smell hit her, and her vision instantly blurred!
