Chapter 1369 Raymond, You Weren't Like This Before
Raymond stepped through the revolving glass doors, his gaze fixed ahead.
Selena was still taking small spoonfuls of her dessert. When she spotted the striking man approaching, she stiffened, setting down her fork and rising with formal politeness.
She called out, "Raymond, you're here."
Without a word, Raymond strode to Victor's side and seized him by the collar.
Victor raised an eyebrow, smiling lightly. "What's this about?"
Before Raymond could demand answers, a hand settled on his. He turned to find Selena looking at him disapprovingly.
She quickly said, "Raymond, if Dr. Barnes hadn't saved me, I might have died. You have no idea how terrifying those people were."
Confusion flashed across Raymond's eyes. "He saved you?"
Selena nodded, prying his fingers loose. "Why are you so hostile? This isn't like you." Disappointment tinged her voice.
Raymond felt his heart constrict. He released Victor and grabbed Selena's hand instead. "Selena, come with me."
She glanced toward Victor. "Dr. Barnes, are you alright?"
Victor calmly straightened his collar and shook his head. Raymond scrutinized his earlobes—no sign of the supposed red birthmark on either side. His brow furrowed, but he dismissed the thought. All he wanted was to talk to Selena; his longing for her was overwhelming.
Victor maintained his smile. "I'm fine. You wanted to see Raymond, and now he's here. Go with him."
Selena hesitated, uncertain why leaving Victor made her anxious. She fell silent.
Raymond tightened his grip. "Selena!" His voice rose with desperation as he felt her slipping away emotionally.
What was happening? Had she lost her memory like Paul? No—she clearly remembered their history, but her feelings seemed to have faded.
Raymond said anxiously, "Selena, do you remember what you said? That you loved me, wanted to have children with me?"
Her eyes brightened momentarily. "Of course I remember. But Raymond, don't treat Dr. Barnes like that again. He saved my life."
Raymond felt helpless. Jason trusted Victor, and now even Selena trusts him. Everyone except Raymond—he was the outsider now.
Raymond finally said, with a hint of disappointment in his voice, "Fine. I won't. But please come home with me. Haven't you missed me?"
"I have," she said, turning to Victor, struggling to say goodbye. Finally, she asked, "Dr. Barnes, would you like to come with us?"
Raymond's grip tightened instantly.
Victor smiled. "No need. If you keep this up, Raymond will truly be upset. Go with him."
Raymond's heart raced with a bitter ache. He held her firmly, pulling her toward the exit.
But Selena kept looking back.
Suddenly, Raymond was struck by a devastating realization: Selena no longer loved him. She had changed her heart.
This knowledge pierced his heart like a blade.
