Chapter 285 Raymond is Afraid Olivia Will Get Jealous
Neither of them said a word. Selena stayed put, trying to keep her cool.
Raymond intertwined his long fingers, rubbing them together. After rinsing off the soap, he casually grabbed a paper towel and dried his hands.
Even though it took less than a minute, to Selena, it felt like forever.
Raymond tossed the used paper towel into the trash can nearby. Seeing her attempt to stay calm, he chuckled.
"Am I that scary?"
Usually quick with words, she was now too scared to speak.
Since he brought it up, Selena had no choice but to respond. She looked up at him.
"You're my boss, my employer. Of course, I'm scared."
Raymond noticed the mark behind her ear that wasn't covered, probably because she came in a hurry and no one reminded her.
"Did you enjoy dinner with your husband?"
Caught like this by her husband, and they didn't fight?
Selena's mind raced. "Something came up with Max in the evening, and Lucas was busy too, so we didn't go."
Raymond nodded. Hearing Olivia's voice calling from outside, he left.
Selena stood there, feeling inexplicably relieved.
Just as she grabbed a paper towel to wipe her hands, Raymond returned, leaning in slightly. His voice was smooth, like water over stones.
"Let's both forget what happened two hours ago."
Selena stiffened, then felt a sense of relief, thinking that would be best.
She finally relaxed completely, and her interaction with him became more natural.
"I get it. You're worried Olivia might get jealous. Don't worry, I'll keep it to myself."
Raymond stood in front of her, looking down at her relieved expression, his eyes darkening.
His gaze swept over her, his tone turning cold.
"You're really sharp."
Selena felt like his words were mocking her, but why?
She didn't think she had done anything to provoke him.
She furrowed her brow, wanting to ask, but he was already gone. Olivia's voice came from outside.
"Let's go. Can you drive me home? I was so worried tonight."
From a distance, Selena heard him reply, "Okay."
Inexplicably, she looked down at the back of her hand and couldn't help but rub it as if the soap was still there.
Raymond drove Olivia home. She sat in the passenger seat, holding a docile ragdoll cat. The cat, having been through a lot at the vet, seemed weak.
As they passed a traffic light, Raymond glanced at a nearby hotel. Lucas and his female colleague were standing at the entrance.
The female colleague was holding him tightly, and Lucas didn't seem to mind. They supported each other as they walked in.
From a distance, through the brightly lit lobby, he saw Lucas kiss the woman on the cheek. She playfully hit his shoulder, and they flirted all the way into the elevator.
He couldn't see any further. Pressing his lips together, he recalled what Selena had said earlier.
"He was busy too."
He thought, 'Indeed, very busy.'
As the light turned green, he resumed driving as if nothing had happened.
Olivia's voice came from beside him.
"Raymond, when can I meet your wife?"
His hidden thoughts dissipated, and Raymond's brow furrowed.
"Why do you want to meet her?"
"Just curious. I want to see what kind of woman Grandpa values so much."
"I have a contract with her. Once my grandfather's health improves, we'll get a divorce."
Olivia stiffened, her eyes filled with immense joy!
