Chapter 317 A Hickey
Selena was a bit taken aback. Since it was business, she had to make the first move. No way Raymond would come to her.
Mia asked, "Didn't Raymond turn you down back then?"
Mia was genuinely curious, even though prying into someone's business wasn't exactly polite.
But this was Raymond, the man Mia thought was the best in the Montague family.
Selena said innocently, "Yeah, he turned me down a few times, but he eventually said yes."
Selena smiled, not really getting why Mia was asking these questions all of a sudden.
Mia's face turned a bit red. She couldn't believe Penny went through all that just to hook up with Raymond.
If Olivia found out, she'd probably lose it. But Mia wasn't about to spread this around.
The rest of the ride was quiet.
When the car pulled over around the studio, Selena hopped out of the car.
As she was closing the door, she thanked Mia and was about to leave, but Mia spoke up, "Penny, can we still be friends in the future?"
Selena was caught off guard. She really liked Mia, but if Mia found out she was the cousin-in-law Mia always disliked, what would that make Mia think of her?
Selena said, "As long as you want, we'll always be friends."
It was the best she could say. Maybe in the future, Mia wouldn't want to be friends anymore.
Mia let out a sigh of relief. "Don't worry. I won't judge you."
As soon as Mia finished, the car door closed, and the car slowly drove away.
Selena stood there, not really getting what Mia's last sentence meant. But she didn't dwell on it and headed straight to the studio.
However, as Selena moved, she felt something weird in a certain part of her body.
The time she lost her viginity was the night Raymond came back to the country, and she got hurt from it. Other than that, she had no other experiences.
But now, after walking a lot, Selena felt something was off. Her waist hurt, and her legs were sore.
Since she had no experience, Selena wasn't sure if her discomfort was from falling off the bed or if something else happened last night. Unable to figure it out, she went to the studio first.
Matthew was there today and raised an eyebrow when he saw Selena.
Matthew said jauntily, "What good deed have you done lately? Cornerstone Construction has suddenly been super generous to our studio, giving us materials at rock-bottom prices."
Selena had set some terms with Cornerstone Construction last time, but they were all about the material prices for Manston Manor. She didn't expect them to be so generous and extend the benefits to the studio, too.
She explained the construction mistake and then plopped down next to him. "Once Raymond's project wraps up, I don't think I'll stick around the studio."
Selena had made up her mind a while ago; she wanted to get back to painting.
She asked, "By the way, how's everything going with your family?"
With the studio doing so well lately, things should be sorted out by now, right?
Matthew's eyes softened, and he rubbed his temples. "Just got it all sorted. I don't need your share from Manston Manor. Whatever Raymond gives, you keep it."
Selena didn't argue. The studio had pulled through, and Matthew wouldn't be short on cash in the future.
She said, "Matthew, I won't write my resignation letter just yet. I'm not sure if I'll take Carter's project. If Mr. Ashford insists, I'll do it after finishing Manston Manor. After that, I'm opening a painting studio. You know I've always loved painting."
Matthew nodded. "Once Raymond's project is done, just shoot me a text. As for Carter's project, I won't take your share. You earned it fair and square."
Selena said, "Matthew, I do have some issues with Mr. Ashford's girlfriend. If she wants to replace me later, I'll hand the project over to someone else in the studio."
This even included the current Manston Manor project. Raymond was weirdly angry today; she didn't know if she'd get a termination notice later. That was why she came to the studio to see which designers were available. She couldn't hand it over to someone Olivia knew. After all, the design fee was a lot of money. If someone from the studio could take it, it would be a favor to Matthew.
After explaining everything to Matthew, Selena headed back to Rose Garden. She felt super tired and uncomfortable. Probably because of a hangover, her stomach hurt a bit, too.
Selena took a stomach pill and soaked in a bath. When she looked down, she found a very hidden mark on the inside of her thigh. It was red, kind of like a hickey, which left her stunned and eyebrows knitted.
