Chapter 227 She Shook His Arm and Acted Cute
When Selena showed up, she took Raymond's car. If he didn't come back soon, she had no idea how she'd get home later.
So, when she heard him, she quickly nodded. "Okay."
Rosalind saw them chatting up close and immediately wedged herself between them, pushing Selena aside.
Selena had to step back a bit.
Rosalind lifted her chin and took the painting from Raymond's hand.
"Honestly, it's pretty average. At my art school, this would be considered mediocre. I don't know what the teacher was thinking, giving it a perfect score."
Her words were pretty rude, basically dissing Selena right in front of her.
Selena, still tied to the Rockefeller family and needing their help, just saw Rosalind as a spoiled princess who spoke her mind.
In the awkward silence, Raymond said, "She's from your college."
Rosalind felt super embarrassed. She didn't expect Selena to be from Silver Bay University too.
Her smile froze, and she was visibly unhappy.
"Raymond, what's up with you? We haven't seen each other in three years, and you're siding with an outsider."
She shook his arm, trying to be cute.
Raymond's face stayed neutral, just raising an eyebrow slightly, not really looking like he was going to scold Rosalind.
Harrison saw this and smiled helplessly. "Rosalind's always been so rude. If she keeps it up, she'll get in trouble sooner or later. Raymond, it's good you're married, or she'd cling to you, and you'd be in a mess."
"What are you talking about? Raymond's marriage is basically like being single. If he really liked that woman, he wouldn't have left for three years. So that woman should get the hint and divorce him."
Selena heard this and her lips tightened, not out of anger, but amusement.
Rosalind felt a bit deflated. "Oh well, Raymond, stay for dinner tonight."
Raymond had gotten a call from Harrison, inviting him to try some natural ingredients, so he nodded.
"Mr. Rockefeller, sorry to bother you."
Harrison didn't want to deal with Rosalind anymore; her crush on Raymond wasn't new.
"Rosalind, go get them a glass of water."
Rosalind glared at Selena, reluctantly let go of Raymond's arm, and went to get the water.
Raymond sat down on a nearby loveseat, where Selena was also sitting, leaving no room for a third person.
Rosalind came over with a tray and saw them sitting on the loveseat, which made her unhappy again.
But having just said the wrong thing, she couldn't speak rashly now, so she just placed the two cups of tea in front of them.
The aroma of the tea filled the air, making everyone feel refreshed.
Raymond asked, "Is the flooring issue resolved?"
"Yes, Mr. Rockefeller promised me that if anyone cancels their order, he will contact me immediately."
Raymond reached for the water, and Selena did too.
Annoyed, Rosalind placed the two cups of water one in front of the other instead of side by side. She didn't like Selena, so this setup ensured the person on the left took the left cup and the person on the right took the right cup.
Raymond and Selena reached out at the same time, their fingers touching the same cup.
This had happened more than once in just a few days.
When their fingers touched, both paused. Raymond's long, slender hand quickly pulled back, his brows furrowing.
Selena also felt a bit awkward and quickly said, "After you."
Rosalind was sitting on the sofa opposite them, and seeing this, she was very angry.
She didn't know if it was her imagination, but the vibe between the two of them was very strange. Even though she was sitting right there, she felt like she couldn't get in between them.
