Chapter 311 Deliberate Cover-Up
Olivia's face went ghostly white. Why did Selena have to show up now of all times?
Selena eyed her with a mix of surprise and amusement. "So it's you, Miss Stone? Have you even seen what this woman looks like? Why are you so sure it's me? If I hadn't shown up now, would everyone here think I'm some kind of loose woman?"
That was exactly what Olivia's plan. If Selena hadn't shown up, everyone in this circle would be convinced that Raymond's designer had hooked up with a bodyguard.
Rumors spread like wildfire these days.
Olivia started sweating bullets. If she didn't handle this right, her reputation would go down with Sofia's.
She quickly blurted out, "Penny, you only showed up briefly last night and then left. I thought..."
Selena cut her off, "You just assumed it was me without checking? I don't have any beef with you, Miss Stone. If it's because I became Mr. Montague's designer, you could've just asked him to end our deal instead of pulling this shady stunt to humiliate me."
Olivia's eyes welled up, and she looked down. "Sorry, I didn't mean to. I just heard the bodyguard call your name."
She didn't hesitate to throw the bodyguard under the bus.
The bodyguard stiffened. He didn't know any Penny at all.
Selena looked at him and said, "I don't think we've met before."
The bodyguard's throat went dry with fear. Everyone here was someone important, and he couldn't afford to piss them off.
Racking his brain, he defended himself. "Sorry, this woman is also called Penny, so I called her that. Sorry, I need to take her away now."
Sofia had been quietly tugging at the bodyguard's hand, shaking with nerves.
Sofia thought she could get away with it; now that Penny had really shown up, staying here any longer would risk exposing her identity! If that happened, she'd be utterly disgraced!
Sofia kept pinching the bodyguard, who quickly grabbed her and set off.
As they passed by Mia, Mia subtly stuck out her leg, tripping the woman who didn't dare show her face.
The woman fell forward, and her clothes slipped off her head, leaving her sprawled on the ground.
When she got up, the hickeys on her neck and her true face were instantly exposed to everyone.
Someone exclaimed, "Isn't that Olivia's cousin, Sofia? When did Sofia start going by Penny? Does she even have that name? So Olivia must have seen Sofia's face just now. If she saw it and still let us misunderstand, then..."
Fearing she'd be implicated, Olivia quickly faked a look of surprise. "Sofia? How could you..."
Torn by fury and embarrassment, Sofia bit her lip and was dying to flee as soon as possible, but her legs went so limp that she couldn't even get to her feet.
Selena stood nearby, looking down at Sofia with a light laugh. "So it's Miss Stone again."
The remark was loaded with meaning, signaling to everyone that Olivia and Sofia were family; Olivia was likely covering for Sofia to protect her reputation.
Olivia was so angry her scalp tingled. She raised her hand and slapped Sofia's face without hesitation. "You really! How could you do such a thing!"
Sofia's tears fell instantly as she covered her face. "Olivia, I'm sorry. I was forced. Last night, he raped me."
Olivia looked at the bodyguard with a righteous stance. "Sofia is a lady of the Stone family. How dare you do this to her? Do you know you could go to prison for this?"
The bodyguard was startled and immediately dropped to his knees. "Miss Stone, I really don't know what happened. I just had a drink and then felt something was wrong with my body."
Olivia took a deep breath, trying to shift everyone's attention to that drink rather than why Sofia was pretending to be Penny.
Olivia snapped, "Don't try to argue. I'll have the Adams family investigate this matter immediately. Even if someone did drug the drink, you're still guilty!"
Selena knew exactly what Olivia was trying to do—divert everyone's attention from the impersonation.
And because of Olivia's few words, people indeed started to think about where the drink came from.
Selena smiled. "Miss Olivia Stone, the drink needs to be investigated. However, I want to ask this bodyguard, Miss Sofia Stone doesn't seem to have the name Penny, right? How could you call her that by mistake?"
Olivia was furious. Why was this bitch still hung up on the name issue!
