Chapter 1481 The Unexpected Confession: She Revealed the Hiding Place So Soon

"Selena, don't worry about me."

Selena coughed twice in distress, feeling a sharp pain in her chest.

"Don't kill him. I'll talk."

Emilio's eyelashes fluttered, his heart seared by a sudden rush of emotion.

He didn't think she'd give up the hiding place so soon.

Instinctively, he averted his gaze, hanging his head, lost in thought.

The man threatening him struck Selena hard across the face.

"After beating you for so long, you wouldn't say a word. I thought you had more backbone than this."

Selena's head snapped to the side, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.

Her eyes remained calm and cold.

"The jellyfish seal is on the outer island, under the bed in the room where I stayed. There's a hidden compartment beneath the floorboards—it's in there."

At the time, carrying it had seemed impractical. Though small and compact, having it on her person would have made her a target.

So once she'd found shelter, she'd simply stashed it there.

The man released Emilio with a cold laugh, calling out to his men, "Take this guy away. And send a few people to search that location."

Emilio suddenly reached out, grabbing Selena's torn clothing.

Her clothes were shredded, her body marked with welts from the whipping.

He opened his mouth, struggling for a long moment before asking, "The jellyfish seal—is it really there?"

Selena nodded.

He didn't believe her.

How could anyone carelessly leave something so valuable in such a place?

Selena's voice was hoarse, trembling with pain.

"That was the safest place I'd lived since entering Mystic Prison. Plus, with the Warner family renovating the area, outsiders would assume they'd already searched it thoroughly. That's why I hid it there."

Emilio was momentarily speechless.

But he still refused to believe her.

He couldn't shake the feeling that Selena wasn't being genuine—perhaps because he'd been playing a role for so long, he'd forgotten that others might possess real sincerity.

As two men dragged him away, Selena continued negotiating.

"I've told you where the jellyfish seal is. Shouldn't you release him now?"

"We'll let him go once we find it. What's the rush?"

The man's eyes roamed over Selena's face.

"I didn't notice how beautiful you were before. Since no one's coming to rescue you anyway, I might as well have some fun first. When I'm done with you, I'll pass you around to my men."

Selena's face went pale as Emilio was led away.

The door slammed shut, leaving only Selena and her would-be assailant inside.

Outside, Emilio touched the blood on his neck.

The two men who'd dragged him out immediately dropped to their knees, not daring to offend him.

Emilio was a monster born from bloodshed, yet he despised the smell of blood above all else.

His fingertips slowly traced the blood, his voice ice-cold, "Kill the man inside."

Disobedient dogs had no right to live.

"Yes, sir."

Just as the man inside was unbuckling his belt, a bullet tore through his chest.

His eyes widened in shock, never knowing who had killed him.

Selena didn't know either—she only heard the gunshot.

As she wondered how to escape this nightmare, the man collapsed three feet away from her.

She thought someone had come to rescue her, but after half an hour passed with no one entering or contacting her, she realized otherwise.

She felt exhausted and in agony.

She endured until the early hours of morning.

Emilio sat in the main hall, waiting for his men to retrieve the jellyfish seal.

After another hour, his expression grew increasingly grim.

As expected, Selena had lied.
