Chapter 215 Stop Pretending

Raymond took a deep breath, his chiseled face looking like it could cut glass.

Fiona could tell these two guys were serious business and followed them, practically shaking in her boots.

"Selena's got a fever. She knocked out after taking some meds."

As soon as she said that, William barked at her to open Selena's door.

Fiona had no choice but to comply and then stood off to the side, looking all respectful.

William shot a glare at Raymond. "Aren't you gonna check on her? Or were you just blowing smoke about caring?"

Raymond's brow twitched. He had no clue who tipped William off today, but here he was, barging into Ashbourne Manor.

He stepped into Selena's room, but before he could say a word, the door slammed shut behind him!

Raymond's face turned stormy.

William ordered Fiona to lock the door, and she did it without a second thought.

Through the door, William called out, "Raymond, you better take good care of Selena in there. I see you two are sleeping in separate rooms. You didn't even help when she was bullied. Don't think you can fool me anymore. Selena's too kind-hearted. Tonight, you're sharing a room!"

Raymond stood there, staring daggers at the closed door.

On the bed, Selena was feeling just as uneasy, her palms sweaty with nerves.

She hadn't expected William to pull this stunt, locking Raymond in with her.

She quickly pulled the blanket over her head, wrapping herself up tight.

Raymond sneered and walked over to a single sofa, his eyes never leaving the lump on the bed.

"Stop pretending."

His voice dripped with disdain, his cold gaze fixed on the bed.

He was sure Alice was faking being sick to get William to come over.

Now that he was here, why was she hiding?

Thinking about the way she looked at him with those admiring eyes, wearing that skimpy nightgown to try and seduce him, it was all so cheap and annoying.

Raymond unbuttoned the top button of his shirt, showing off his sexy Adam's apple.

He was really at his limit, a hint of red in his eyes like a poisonous flower.

Selena stayed hidden under the blanket, not daring to move. She didn't need to peek out to know the room felt colder than a freezer.

"If faking being sick got Grandpa to bring me here, why are you hiding now? Wasn't it enough last time when you threw yourself at me in the hotel? I've made my feelings pretty clear."

Raymond despised Alice so much that even talking to her made his skin crawl.

Luckily, he was about to head to Ridgefield. He planned to stay there for a month before coming back, so William wouldn't have any reason to drag him back to Ashbourne Manor.

He took a deep breath, knowing William was dead set on keeping him locked in here. There was no way out, so he leaned back.

But his back injury hadn't healed yet, and thinking that the injury was because of this woman made his disgust even stronger.

Outside the door, Fiona was a bit worried.

"Is this really okay?"

William snorted, gripping his cane.

"What's wrong with it? Selena said they've hooked up. She didn't seem to be lying. I think Raymond slept with her but still has his eyes on other women. That jerk."

Otherwise, he wouldn't have cheated. How did the Montague family produce such a scoundrel?

"You stay here and keep watch. No matter what he says tonight, don't let anyone out. Just say it's my order. Let them out first thing in the morning."

"But even so, Raymond probably won't touch Selena."

"I already had him take something on the way here."

Fiona stiffened, remembering the aphrodisiac William had stashed in Raymond's nightstand last time.

It seemed William was really desperate for a great-grandchild.
