Chapter 1486 Angelic Outside, Dark Within
As soon as he left, it was just Raymond and Eldon again.
Yosef was a cautious man. Last night, he had people stationed outside Raymond's house.
He said it was for protection, but it was really surveillance. Yosef wanted that batch of drugs.
Now that he knew the drugs were gone, he was upset but wouldn't lay a hand on Raymond.
Once the door closed, Eldon stood up and brushed the dust off his knees.
"Raymond, when are you planning to make a move?"
Raymond glanced out the window. There were still a few hours until nightfall.
He had leaked his whereabouts to the people hunting him. With a bit of thought, it was clear whose forces they were—K's.
He hadn't expected K's influence to reach here, but it was obvious K was wary of something. Otherwise, they would have bombed the entire island long ago instead of painstakingly sending their people in to kill him.
Tonight, K's people would know he was here and would definitely make a move.
Yosef had brought many people too. When the two sides clashed, he would take Eldon and go find Selena.
Eldon didn't expect Raymond to answer. They quietly waited for the right moment.
Two hours later.
Yosef was sitting in the hall, drinking tea, when he heard gunfire in the distance.
He sat up straight and looked at his trusted aide.
"Go see what's happening."
As soon as he spoke, the gunfire became much more intense.
"Mr. Soto, I'll cover your escape."
Yosef's face turned grim. Those people again?
Damn it, whose forces were bold enough to act so recklessly on the island?
"Bring Eldon back to the inner island. I need to discuss how to handle this external threat with the other families."
This outside force was brazen and reckless, putting the inner island families' resources at risk. They had to eliminate this sudden threat, just as they had done with Raymond before.
"Yes, Mr. Soto."
"And contact Mr. Blair. Tell him we have something important to report."
All the families knew of Emilio and treated him with utmost respect.
This kind of respect was different from how they treated the man in the black robe. He was merely a collaborator, so it was only natural for them to treat him as an honored guest.
But Emilio controlled all the surveillance within Mystic Prison. Nothing escaped his eyes.
Many of Mystic Prison's rules were set by Emilio.
For centuries, his word was law within its walls.
With an outside threat looming over the island, they were compelled to seek Emilio's counsel.
Emilio was aware that K's people had made a move.
He had thought K would confront him directly only after he left Mystic Prison. He hadn't expected K to act within Mystic Prison, blatantly ignoring all its rules.
What had provoked K?
Emilio wiped the blood off his face, his eyes turning dark.
"Mobilize all forces on the island and clear out K's people."
If K was crazy, he would play along.
"Yes, Mr. Blair. K's people arrived by helicopter. Our men counted at least thirty helicopters in the sky."
This was quite a show of force.
"Find out if anything else happened within the organization besides Donny being captured."
Emilio rarely contacted the organization. He was eager to return with the jellyfish seal.
His gut told him something major had happened within the organization.
"Mr. Blair, communication with the organization has been cut off since this morning. Mr. Hubbard and Mr. Dickson are likely under K's control."
Emilio's brow furrowed, and he gritted his teeth.
"Forget it. Just attack. I want to see if K has the guts to destroy all of Mystic Prison!"
Outside Mystic Prison, several massive ships were anchored.
Zaid sat on the deck of one, holding a glass of wine, watching the dozens of helicopters circling above.
The surrounding waters were sealed off. For the next three days, no other ships would pass by, so no one would know what was happening here.
Even if he wanted to bomb the island, it wouldn't make international news.
But he didn't want to. The island held not only Selena but also Raymond and... Barbara.
His men had found Barbara in the island's psychiatric hospital.
Barbara was still alive, which shocked him.
He couldn't just bomb the island. He had to see her and reunite her with Selena.
What had she said back then?
Oh, right. She said he was too ruthless to be a leader, that he was cruel, selfish, cunning, and would bring disaster to those around him.
A smile flickered across Zaid's lips, but he quickly donned a gentle façade, looking every bit like Victor from Silver Bay City.
The darker his heart grew, the more angelic he appeared in his white coat as he tended to patients.
He relished this contrast—the thrill of manipulation, the rush of control. It gave him a deep, abiding satisfaction.
