Chapter 252 When a Marriage Should End, It Should End

Selena had no clue what was going on upstairs. She hung out in the hallway until eleven, then finally got up, her legs feeling a bit numb.

After a quick chat with the nurse, she dragged her tired self back to the hotel.

Just as she stepped out of the top-floor elevator, the one next to it opened, and out came Raymond.

Raymond was all suited up, casually adjusting his cufflinks.

Selena blinked her tired eyes and called out, "Raymond."

The elevator doors behind them closed at the same time, heading down slowly.

Maybe it was because this floor was so quiet, you could hear the elevator going down.

Raymond was the first to move, heading towards his room.

Since Selena's room was closer, he had to walk past her.

Selena caught a faint whiff of woman’s perfume on him.

Had he just come back from a date with Olivia?

No wonder a first love could take up so much of Raymond's time.

Selena also walked in that direction, needing to pass by Raymond's door. But Raymond didn't acknowledge her, and she didn't feel like starting a conversation.

However, as she was about to pass, she heard him ask, "Tired?"

Selena's face showed her exhaustion, with dark circles under her eyes.

"Yeah, kind of. Something happened at home."

Raymond had already swiped his key card and opened the door, but he didn't go in right away. Instead, he turned to look at her.

"Is it about your husband again?"

"No."

She was really worn out. After saying this, she couldn't help but let out a small yawn, covering her mouth with her hand, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.

"Mr. Montague, rest well. Good night."

She was about to walk to the other end of the hallway when she heard him say, "When a marriage needs to end, it should end."

Selena paused, chuckled lightly, and her eyes brightened a bit.

But because she was tired, her voice was soft and gentle.

"What woman hasn't compromised in marriage?"

This had always been a societal norm.

Even though she hated and didn't accept such a norm, she could only use this statement to brush off Raymond for now.

Sure enough, a faint coldness appeared in Raymond's eyes. But within that coldness, there was a hint of other complex emotions.

Selena looked at him calmly, her voice as gentle as a flowing stream.

"Someone as impressive as you, isn't even helpless in your own marriage? My husband is excellent, and I like him a lot. If it really comes to the point where we must divorce, I think I would definitely leave."

But the "like" she mentioned was more of admiration.

Because Raymond was indeed outstanding, managing the Montague Group at a young age with performance constantly doubling. If it weren't for this, why would William personally arrange his marriage? It was to ensure his grandson didn't go astray.

Raymond said nothing more, entered his room and closed the door behind him.

Selena stood outside, feeling a bit helpless.

Was he really so averse to this marriage? She had never used the title of Mrs. Montague to cause trouble, which could be considered as being well-behaved and sensible.

But thinking that Raymond had someone in his heart, it was understandable that he resented her.

Selena walked to her room, not in the mood to think about anything else.

Inside, Raymond took off his jacket and tossed it aside.

He thought of her slightly teary eyes, smiling at him yet bitterly saying,"What woman hasn't compromised in marriage?"

Raymond truly thought her husband was just as blind as Caterlington.

But that wasn't his concern. If she was willing to compromise, so be it.

No one was stopping her.
