Chapter 175 It Wasn't Worth Risking Her Life
"Ms. Montague, how are you?" Grace's head was bleeding, and she was a bit out of it. The driver in the front seat had even passed out.
Since they were the ones hit, their situation was worse than Selena's.
Right then, the scene was chaotic, and the traffic cops had shown up.
Grace raised her hand to rub her aching head. Seeing it was Selena, she didn't immediately blame her for the accident. "Penny, are you okay?"
Selena felt guilty right away and quickly helped her out of the car. "I'm fine. I'm sorry. I'll call an ambulance right now."
The driver in the front seat was also pulled out by the traffic cops. Luckily, they only had minor injuries, but they still needed to go to the hospital.
As the driver, Selena was immediately taken into custody by the police.
Grace initially wanted to help her out but then heard her say, "Ms. Montague, the ambulance is on its way. You should go to the hospital first. I'll come and apologize in person later. I have some things to handle here."
Even at this moment, Selena stayed calm, her eyes fixed on Jane, who was already scared stiff.
Jane had only meant to scare Selena by making the car swerve to the side of the road. After all, it wasn't worth risking her life for Selena.
But when Selena and she struggled over the steering wheel, she used all her strength and accidentally turned it the wrong way, crashing into an oncoming car amidst screams.
Jane glanced at the brand of the car, which was worth around ten million dollars, and was instantly terrified.
Following the police, Selena specifically instructed them to bring Jane along and explained the struggle over the steering wheel, emphasizing the dashcam footage.
The police, seeing Grace's car, knew they had hit someone wealthy and didn't dare to be careless.
Since Selena was fully responsible, they took both people in the car to the police station.
Selena felt she had been quite unlucky lately, frequently shuttling between the police station and the hospital.
With Jane, who was scared stiff, beside her, her mood plummeted.
Jane babbled on, "You can't blame me this time, Selena. You're the driver. Even if they want compensation, they'll come to you. It has nothing to do with me. I'm just a passenger. The other side seems to be someone important. You'll just have to accept your bad luck this time."
Jane was extremely scared. She had been so embarrassed recently that she didn't dare to go out to work and had been staying at home.
Thinking that her encounter with Reid's wife might have been a setup by Selena, she came out to wait for her and secretly followed her here.
Jane had only intended to scare Selena, not expecting things to escalate to this point.
Selena completely ignored her. After finishing her statement with the police and confirming her part of the responsibility, she planned to leave.
Jane, being the main culprit, bore greater responsibility. Seeing Selena about to leave, she was scared and tried to follow. "Selena, don't go too far. This happened because of you."
But the police had already stopped Jane, needing to take her statement separately and then see how Grace planned to seek compensation.
Grace's situation was reported to Carter. Carter had come to see Lillian today. Seeing Grace's call, he felt a bit guilty, pushed Lillian away, and then answered the call.
But this time, it wasn't Grace calling, but her driver.
The driver had already woken up and was fine, but Grace had been diagnosed with a mild concussion and needed to stay in the hospital for observation. The wound on her head was also being bandaged.
"Mr. Ashford, it was your girlfriend's car that collided with ours. Mrs. Ashford didn't intend to tell you, but she asked me to inform you so you could comfort your girlfriend."
Grace didn't ask Carter to come see her but instead asked him to check on Selena.
Grace had run into Selena twice at the hospital, both times when she was in a poor state. She guessed Selena had significant family conflicts, and her family probably wouldn't care much about her in this situation.
Since Carter was her boyfriend, he should totally be there for her.
