Chapter 255 Are You Trying to Seduce Me?

A small lump formed under the covers, with just a bit of smooth hair peeking out.

The bedside lamp was on, giving the room a warm, cozy vibe.

Raymond didn't just barge in; he knocked twice with his knuckles.

No answer. He stepped in.

"Selena?"

The room was laid out like his, but the decor was different.

He flicked on the lights, and Selena's brows furrowed, probably from the sudden brightness.

Raymond reached out to touch her forehead, but her eyes popped open before he could.

She still looked pale, but better. When she saw him, surprise flashed in her eyes.

"Raymond?"

Raymond pulled his hand back, letting it rest by his side.

"You feeling sick?"

Selena had a mild fever the other night in Ridgefield, and today her cramps were killing her. She'd popped three painkillers at noon, not even thinking about her stomach.

Now awake, her stomach felt like it was in knots.

She sat up quickly, clutching her stomach, her face going even paler.

She tried to stand but collapsed to the floor, her legs too weak.

Raymond caught her.

She'd taken a bath before bed and was in a casual spaghetti strap nightgown, so his fingers brushed her tan, smooth, bare skin.

Raymond was in a thin, well-fitted shirt. As he leaned to catch her, his wrist bone showed.

Once she was steady, Selena sighed in relief and stood up with his help. Realizing she was still holding his hand, she quickly stepped back.

She wondered why Raymond was in her room.

"The front desk knocked, no answer. I called you, no answer. So I got a spare key."

His tone was flat, and he pointed outside.

"Eat something."

Selena sighed in relief and walked out.

She hadn't eaten all day, and her stomach was growling.

She sat on the sofa, grabbed the food from the dining cart, and ate half a bowl of oatmeal, finally feeling human again.

Then she noticed Raymond's deep eyes watching her.

His shirt sleeves were rolled up, and he sat on the single sofa.

Feeling a bit awkward, she asked, "Want something to eat?"

The front desk had sent up a lot of food. She figured they knew she was sick and were being nice, considering the hotel was fancy and under the Montague Group.

"Selena."

Raymond's voice was calm, his gaze steady.

His eyes were striking, slightly longer than almond-shaped, with sharp corners. When he wasn't smiling, they looked cold.

Selena thought he had something important to say, maybe about Manston Manor.

No wonder he was here; she'd told him to reach out anytime if there were issues.

"Mr. Montague, just say what you need to."

If he wanted to change materials or add details, they could talk it out.

Raymond just looked away and stood up. "Eat and then rest."

Selena got up to see him out, still a bit worried.

At the door, she asked softly, "Is it about Manston Manor?"

Raymond paused.

Selena really thought it was about the house.

"I want the design to be perfect. If you have any requests, let me know."

The room was quiet, like it was cut off from the world.

Raymond turned and saw her serious face, her cold, delicate eyes making him feel soft-hearted.

He raised his hand slightly, placing it on her waist. With her thin nightgown, it felt like his palm was on her skin.

She stiffened, hearing him say, "I've always suspected you're trying to seduce me."

Following his gaze, Selena saw her nipples showing through the nightgown, and her face turned bright red.
