Chapter 1471 Too Much Like Raymond
After scrubbing his hands clean for what felt like the hundredth time, he finally stopped and looked up at his reflection in the mirror.
The guy staring back at him still looked young, but his eyes had this intense, almost menacing glint.
He heard Selena's voice coming from the living room and quickly headed out.
The doctor had already stitched up Selena's wound. The power was still out, and a candle flickered on the table.
The doctor packed up his medical kit, gave Emilio a quick glance, and left.
Emilio plopped down on the couch, keeping an eye on Selena.
Selena had been worried sick about Raymond lately, and after getting hurt tonight, she was dozing off on the middle couch.
Even in the dim light, Emilio could tell she had a fever, probably from the shock.
The only sound in the room was her slightly heavy breathing.
He grabbed a syringe from nearby, took her wrist, and was about to inject her when gunshots rang out from outside.
The shots were loud, echoing through the room.
Selena's eyes snapped open.
The syringe slipped from Emilio's hand, and he quickly kicked it under the couch.
"Selena, you seem to have a fever."
Selena got up and pushed him into the adjacent room.
"You and Mario stay here and hide. I'll go check out what's happening. Don't come out until I come back for you."
Emilio grabbed her hand, a flash of anger crossing his face.
He had no idea what was going on outside; this wasn't part of his plan.
"Selena, Mystic Prison is a no-gun zone. It's dangerous out there."
Selena placed her hand on his and patted it. "It's okay. I'll just take a quick look and be right back. Stay hidden."
Emilio didn't say anything more and slowly let go.
Selena forced herself to stay upright and left without looking back.
As soon as she left, Emilio made a phone call to find out what was happening on the island.
"Mr. Blair, it seems like people from the inner island have come to the middle island tonight, and they broke through the checkpoints."
Emilio's grip on his phone tightened, his expression darkening.
"Find out who caused this."
"Yes, sir."
He hung up and looked at the back of his hand.
There was fresh blood on it, probably Selena's.
He rubbed it hard, but the blood had already dried and wouldn't come off easily.
Selena opened the living room door and stepped outside, hearing the blaring of sirens.
The entire island was without power tonight, making it impossible to see clearly, but several strong beams of light pierced the sky, followed by terrifying gunfire.
Mystic Prison was a no-gun zone, with firearms only in the hands of the upper echelon. It seemed like the upper levels of the middle island were all alarmed tonight.
What on earth was happening?
She frowned, wanting to gather information, but then she heard the sound of vehicles crashing outside.
She opened the door a crack and heard a group of people cursing.
She saw a man hidden in the darkness, wearing a cloak that covered almost his entire body, except for a pair of black leather boots.
It was too far to see the man's exact height, but the man caught in the car's headlights was clear. That silhouette looked a lot like Raymond.
Selena's body tensed, and she almost instinctively moved to go outside.
But several men, exuding a murderous aura, came out and injected something into the man, causing him to pass out. They then tied him up forcefully.
The lights were too bright, hurting Selena's eyes. She could barely see anything except for that fleeting silhouette, which looked unmistakably like Raymond.
