Chapter 167 Coincidence
In the future, Selena was bound to run into Carter again, who happened to be Raymond's cousin.
Carter looked a bit surprised as he walked in and asked, "Penny, you live here?"
Selena nodded, forcing a smile. "Mr. Ashford, is this your girlfriend?"
Carter didn't hesitate to wrap his arm around Lillian Mitchell's waist and give her a kiss on the cheek. "Yep, looks like you two are gonna be neighbors."
Selena kept sweeping. The last thing she wanted was to be neighbors with Carter's girlfriend, especially since Grace still mistakenly thought she was dating Carter.
Now, with his actual girlfriend right in front of her, Selena worried that Grace might show up one day and cause a scene.
But then she thought, Grace probably wouldn't come here. Carter was known for splurging on women, and buying houses for them wasn't a rare thing. If Grace wanted to dig deeper, she'd have a hard time keeping up.
Thinking about this, Selena felt a bit relieved.
Seeing Selena cleaning alone, Carter couldn't help but ask, "Where's your husband? When I bought my unit, this one wasn't sold yet. You must've bought it recently and just moved in with your husband, right?"
Selena stiffened, feeling a headache coming on.
She had just moved in today, and Carter had bought the unit across the hall a while ago. Even if she wanted to lie and say she bought it a long time ago, it wouldn't work. And what should she say about her husband?
Standing next to Carter, Lillian was holding his arm. From the moment Selena appeared, she was filled with hostility, as she seemed very familiar with Carter.
Any woman familiar with Carter was likely one of his ex-girlfriends.
Lillian immediately became highly vigilant, but now hearing what Carter said, her vigilance disappeared instantly. It turned out to be Carter's friend.
Lillian breathed a sigh of relief and extended her hand with a smile. "Hi, I'm Lillian. Have we met somewhere before?"
Actually, when Selena saw this face, she also felt a bit familiar.
Lillian suddenly said, "You're the designer for Mr. Montague. I used to work as a receptionist at the Montague Group. I saw you the first time you came to the Montague Group, but it wasn't me who received you, it was my colleague. You're very beautiful, I remember your face."
Selena was silent for a moment. She couldn't help but laugh, but still shook hands gracefully. "Hello, I am indeed Mr. Montague's designer."
"So you're married already. You're really beautiful." Knowing that Selena wasn't Carter's ex-girlfriend, Lillian was very good at giving compliments.
And Carter asked, "Can I take a look around?"
"Sure, but the decor isn't mine; it was the previous owner's," Selena replied.
"But the decor is nice," Carter said.
Since it was clear Selena had just moved in and was still cleaning, Carter didn't want to disturb her too much. After a quick look around, he took Lillian back to their unit.
Selena continued cleaning alone until the afternoon. After pouring a bowl of dog food for Max, she received a message from James asking if she and Raymond had left yet.
Selena raised her hand to rub her temples.
In James's eyes, there was always only Raymond.
Where could she find Raymond now? It seemed they were destined to wait in vain tonight.
Selena patted Max's head, completely unaware that James probably knew she was being a bit rebellious now, so he called William instead.
William liked Selena and was quite respectful to the Fair Family. Hearing that dinner was ready over there, he personally called Raymond.
At that moment, Raymond was still in a meeting, with a big social event tonight involving the acquisition deal they had been preparing for recently.
