Chapter 246 Self-indulgent

Would Raymond be back in Silver Bay City today?

Selena had seen his car in Ridgefield yesterday, but she had to hit up the repair shop for her own ride, so they went their separate ways.

Right now, Selena couldn't care less about anything else and just booked a room at the hotel.

She had some fever meds on her since she’d been hitting the hospital a lot lately.

When she got to the hotel lobby, they told her the room she booked got given away because of some system glitch.

"We're really sorry, miss. To make it up to you, we've upgraded you to a presidential suite for free."

Selena glanced at the room number on the card and smirked.

She was on the same floor as Raymond, and there were only two presidential suites. She rubbed her temples, took the card without a word, and just wanted some sleep.

In the elevator, she leaned against the corner and closed her eyes.

When the doors opened again, there stood Raymond and John.

No one expected her to be in there. Raymond frowned a bit, while John had this knowing look in his eyes.

They stepped in, and John picked up their conversation.

"Miss Stone's flight lands at four, and I've booked a restaurant for five."

Hearing that familiar voice, Selena opened her eyes. When she saw them, she just looked away.

The elevator walls reflected everyone clearly. Raymond stood at the front, but his eyes were on the mirror.

Selena stood quietly in the corner, eyes half-closed, probably from lack of sleep.

She was naturally beautiful, and standing there so still, she looked lonely and fragile.

Raymond couldn't help but think of seeing her outside in Ridgefield yesterday.

There was sunlight then, and it seemed like she might just turn into smoke and vanish.

Now, Selena lowered her gaze, her long, thick lashes not even fluttering.

The elevator reached the top floor, and Raymond walked out first.

But as he got to his room door, he heard light footsteps behind him and knew Selena had also stepped out.

After a moment of silence, he spoke, "Is there something you can't handle?"

Hadn't she already asked Caterlington for help with Jacob's issue?

His voice was soft, and Selena, lost in her thoughts, didn't hear him at all. She walked past him silently to the room at the other end of the hallway.

This made Raymond's earlier words seem kinda self-important.

His face stiffened for a moment, and for some reason, he felt a bit ticked off.

Swiping his card to enter his room, he unbuttoned a few buttons on his shirt, feeling suffocated.

John followed quietly behind him, acting like he hadn't seen a thing.

"Sir, the restaurant reservation is on your phone, and here are the documents you'll need for tomorrow."

Raymond sat on the sofa, nodding slightly, his expression cold.

"The Fair family hasn't contacted Grandpa, right?"

"No."

Raymond didn't want to waste words on the Fair family, so he just nodded.

John placed the documents properly and then left.

After Raymond finished his shower and was drying his hair with a towel, he heard a knock on his door.

He paused, his lips pressed into a thin line.

But when he opened the door, it was room service with a light breakfast.

He stood at the door without moving, and the server didn't dare to enter without permission.

"Mr. Montague?"

Raymond glanced down the hallway, but the two suites were far apart, and he couldn't see anything.

"Come in."

The server quickly pushed the cart inside and set up all the dishes.

"Sir, enjoy your meal."

In an instant, Raymond was alone in the room.

After breakfast, he tried to work on the documents but found it hard to focus.
