Chapter 1425 Sign the Share Transfer Agreement

Richard turned to face Selena, who stood frozen in shock. She had only just learned about her true identity, and the revelation had clearly stunned her.

Her grip on Raymond's arm tightened unconsciously, almost painfully, but he remained silent. Instead, he simply wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close and gently rubbing her back.

Selena's mind was in chaos—a thousand thoughts buzzing like angry bees.

Richard approached her, his voice rough with emotion. "I'm sorry, Selena. I should have told you sooner."

Instinctively, she stepped back, rejecting this new identity.

Seeing her reaction, Richard smiled sadly. "Would you speak to your father? When he heard the news of your alleged death, he became bedridden. That, combined with Tessa's manipulations... he hasn't regained consciousness since."

Selena felt as if her feet were nailed to the floor. She had never even met Jason—how could she possibly call him "father"? Yet seeing his haggard state sent an unexpected pang through her heart.

Blood ties were strange and powerful things. Something ignited within her, and before she could process her conflicting emotions, she found herself moving closer to Jason's bedside.

To everyone's surprise, Jason's eyes fluttered open.

Richard seized the moment, quickly brushing away the moisture from his own lashes. "Dad! Layla isn't your daughter—Selena is. I found our sister. We uncovered the truth."

Jason's pupils constricted sharply as he struggled to turn his gaze toward Selena. Though his body remained paralyzed, his consciousness was just strong enough to comprehend Richard's words.

His daughter had returned!

He fought to speak, his facial muscles contorting with effort, but no words came. This man, once a commanding force in the business world, now lay helpless before the daughter he had searched for all these years.

Richard could barely watch, tears welling in his eyes. "Dad, I'm so sorry. I only found out last night. Lawrence and I will do exactly as you wanted. You need to get better now."

Selena watched the scene unfold, uncertain how to respond. She saw the haggard man straining to look at her, his eyes red with emotion.

Fearing his excitement might worsen his condition, she hesitantly reached out and took his hand.

The touch seemed to calm Jason immediately. His expression grew peaceful as his eyes closed. A single tear slid down his cheek as he slipped back into unconsciousness.

Selena's hand remained on his, her voice soft. "Mr. Jason Smith needs rest. Perhaps we shouldn't disturb him anymore."

Richard didn't respond directly. Instead, he retrieved documents he had prepared earlier. "Lawrence, you need to sign these transfer papers."

Lawrence currently held the majority of Smith family shares, and now he needed to relinquish them.

Selena looked confused—what were they signing? But this was Smith family business, and she wasn't ready to claim her place in it, so she remained silent.

Lawrence couldn't meet her eyes. He lowered his head and signed without even reading the document. He would have signed his own death warrant in that moment if asked.

Richard added his signature to another document, then placed both papers before Selena.

He explained, "This was our father's decision before he fell ill. If his biological daughter was ever found alive, all Smith family shares would belong to her. Lawrence and I willingly surrender our portions. Selena, this isn't from us—it's from your father. Please sign."

With her signature, Selena would gain control of the entire Smith empire. She would have authority over everything bearing the Smith name, instantly becoming one of the wealthiest people in the country.

The Smith family was a powerhouse in Vistalia—even the royal family treated them with deference.
