Chapter 160 Servant

Selena's back went rigid. She was about to grab her phone to light up the floor and pick up the broken porcelain pieces.

But then, Raymond's voice threw her off.

Raymond, holding a cup, seemed to be working late and had come down for some coffee.

The house was pitch dark, and he could only make out a shadowy figure, thinking it was one of the villa’s servants.

"Where's the coffee machine?" Raymond asked, calm as ever, already catching the scent of coffee.

Before heading upstairs, Fiona had mentioned that coffee was always available downstairs, 24/7.

When burning the midnight oil, he needed his caffeine fix.

The kitchen was spacious, and the coffee machine was close to Selena, but she didn't dare to speak.

Raymond, following the aroma, walked straight into the kitchen.

He didn't even glance at Selena, who had her back to him, and placed his cup under the machine.

This coffee machine had a brief warming function, so even with the power out, it could still pour brewed coffee into the cup.

As the coffee filled the cup, the kitchen was filled with its rich aroma.

This was Raymond's favorite coffee bean, but amidst the coffee's fragrance, he caught a familiar scent.

He frowned and took another look at the "servant."

Selena stayed crouched on the ground, not moving an inch.

Still holding the broken porcelain pieces, she used the lightning from outside to quickly pick up the pieces in front of her and tossed them into the kitchen trash can.

She stood up, head down, and tried to leave the kitchen quickly, but Raymond spoke up. "The circuit breaker probably tripped. Everyone else is asleep now. Take me to the fuse box."

Raymond wasn't familiar with Ashbourne Manor's layout, but the servants should be.

Clearly, he mistook Selena for a servant.

Selena tried to walk past him quickly with her head down, but hearing this, she paused.

Raymond was already a bit annoyed. Why was she acting so clueless?

Selena lowered her voice, trying to sound different. "Sorry, Mr. Montague, I don't know where the fuse box is either."

Raymond hadn't brought his phone down, and it was hard to see in the dark, so he asked, "Where's your phone? Turn on the flashlight."

Selena almost instinctively replied, "I didn't bring my phone."

Just as she finished speaking, her phone rang in her pocket.

She quickly covered her phone with her hands, feeling her face blush with embarrassment.

They could only see each other's vague outlines, and with Selena intentionally avoiding him, Raymond couldn't see clearly.

"No phone?" Raymond's tone was calm, not angry, but it felt like a slap to Selena's face.

Feeling frustrated, Selena quickly reached into her pocket and turned off her phone screen.

She didn't know how to respond to Raymond's question and kept her head down, trying to leave.

She had just taken a step when her wrist was grabbed.

"You're not from Ashbourne Manor," Raymond said lightly.

Showing up here in the middle of the night, scared to answer his questions, lying about not having a phone; was she afraid he'd recognize her?

Given Raymond's special status, there were always women with ill intentions trying to get close to him. And this person was in the kitchen; had she tampered with the food?

This wasn't the first time something like this had happened, so he was particularly cautious.

Raymond's villa abroad was tightly controlled in this regard, with no female servants around him.

But Ashbourne Manor was different; no one knew if the people here had been replaced.

This person was acting suspiciously.

Selena's wrist was tightly held by Raymond, and she felt a bitter taste in her mouth, lowering her voice further. "Mr. Montague, you've misunderstood me."

"Give me your phone," Raymond ordered.

Raymond needed to see what she was hiding.
