Chapter 279 Is Raymond That Rude?
Selena froze up, making it pretty obvious she was rattled.
"Alex."
She called out, hurrying past him and heading outside.
Alex noticed the marks on her and saw she was clutching the design plans for Manston Manor. Her red eyes and shaky hands made it seem like she'd been through the wringer.
"Selena."
She stopped in her tracks when she heard his teasing tone. "Did Raymond give you a hard time?"
Selena's shoulders trembled a bit, but she pretended not to hear him and quickly walked away with her head down.
Alex chuckled and hit the elevator's close button.
When he got to the top floor, he knocked on Raymond's door.
Raymond took his sweet time, about three minutes, to open it.
Alex sniffed around the room, not picking up any post-coital vibes.
"Raymond, what if I told everyone you tried to force yourself on a married woman? Think they'd buy it?"
Raymond, now in a silk robe that made him look even more elegant, just sat there with a cold aura.
Seeing Raymond's disinterest, Alex found it even funnier.
"I just saw Selena in the elevator. She looked like she'd seen a ghost."
Raymond paused, pen in hand.
Alex laughed to himself and got serious.
"Did you really make a move? Olivia's back, man. If you need a woman, she's right there. Isn't it gross to mess with someone else's?"
Some guys in their circle had a thing for taken women, but it was generally frowned upon.
Raymond stayed silent, signed the document in front of him, and slid it over.
"Take it and get lost."
Raymond had a meeting with Alex, a top screenwriter with a new script. The Montague Group, which dabbled in luxury stores, hotels, cars, amusement parks, and tourist spots, had never invested in entertainment.
Alex's scripts were hot property, and he was looking for a $300 million investment for his latest project. For Raymond, that was pocket change.
When Alex saw the investment was approved, he raised an eyebrow.
"Get lost? If I hadn't come tonight, I would've missed this drama. Feeling pent up? How about I call Olivia?"
Raymond's face darkened instantly. He stormed off to his bedroom, slamming the door.
Alex sat on the sofa, laughing. Was this Raymond's first real setback?
A few minutes later, Alex squinted. Could Raymond actually have feelings for Selena? Raymond was picky about relationships. Even with Olivia, he held back from sex.
Maybe because he'd been abstinent for so long, his first time mattered to him.
Both men and women care about their first time, but guys especially always remember their first, no matter how many partners they have later.
It's like tasting a delicious dish for the first time.
If you only have it once, you remember it.
But if you have it a bunch of times, the novelty wears off.
