Chapter 357 She Doesn't Deserve You at All

Lillian's face went white, like she'd just been slapped. "Mr. Montague."

But Raymond didn't even look at her; his eyes were on everyone else. "Consider this a warning."

He was totally ignoring Lillian's feelings.

Lillian piped up, "I'm Carter's girlfriend. We've been doing great lately, so could you..."

Raymond's gaze turned icy, making Lillian freeze up. She hated Selena even more now.

Raymond didn't say much and left quickly. John stayed behind to talk to the other receptionists. "Spreading rumors can get you in legal trouble."

The receptionists nodded, scared.

Then someone nervously asked, "Why did Raymond leave work so early today?"

It wasn't even noon yet, which was weird for a workaholic like him.

By then, Raymond was already in the car.

John got in the driver's seat, glanced at Raymond in the rearview mirror, and stayed quiet.

The car ride was silent until they pulled up to Montague Manor.

Catherine, who was there, looked relieved when she saw him. "I thought you forgot. Everything's ready. Let's go."

Raymond glanced at the bouquet of white chrysanthemums in her hand.

Catherine looked sad, and they both seemed really serious.

After getting back in the car, they drove to a cemetery on the outskirts.

John waited below and didn't go up.

Raymond and Catherine walked up the hill and stopped in front of a tombstone.

Catherine placed the flowers in front of it and sighed.

Raymond's face was cold as he looked at the black-and-white photo that looked a bit like him.

"Raymond, I made mistakes back then. If I had another chance..."

"Mom, the dead can't come back. Just don't use the same tricks on me that you used on Christopher."

Catherine's face turned sour, and her fingers shook. "If you all just listened, would I have to work so hard?"

Raymond's lips curled into a cold smile as he placed his bouquet in front of the tombstone. "I've got stuff to do this afternoon, so I'm leaving. Christopher probably wouldn't want you bothering him either."

Catherine was stunned, unable to believe he'd say something so cold in front of Christopher's grave.

But Raymond just nodded at her, then at the tombstone, and left.

Catherine stood there, feeling a chill.

Finally, she asked, "When are you and Selena getting divorced? She's not good enough for you. I heard the Fair family is about to go bankrupt."

A flash of irritation crossed Raymond's face, and he quickened his pace.

When he got to the bottom of the hill, he got into the car John had driven, leaving another car for Catherine.

John knew Raymond was always in a bad mood this time of year.

Raymond went to meet Paul.

Paul was in a private room, pushing a glass of wine towards him. "We still haven't found anything about Christopher's girlfriend. He kept her well-hidden, and he might not have used his real name with her."

Raymond wasn't interested in Christopher's girlfriend and frowned. "Why are we looking into this?"

"All of Christopher's records have been erased. The mission he was on was probably secret, and there are still people abroad looking for him. He might have brought something out, which is why they're so eager to protect him."

Raymond said nothing, his eyelashes lowered, quietly swirling his wine.

Paul clinked glasses with him lightly. "Had another rough encounter with your mom today?"

Paul's shirt was unbuttoned at the chest, his eyes sharp and bright. "She hasn't changed, always wanting you two to marry a woman she approves of. Seems she's still hung up on your dad's first love. Raymond, you probably agreed to your grandpa back then to rebel against Catherine, right? She wanted to break you and Olivia up, and you ended up marrying someone with an even worse background than Olivia. While you were away from Silver Bay City, she must have taken it out on your wife."

Raymond didn't want to comment on Paul's words, but when he heard him say "wife," his brow furrowed. "Don't call her that."

"If you dislike her so much, could your grandpa's judgment really be that bad?"

Raymond raised his hand to rub his brow, clearly annoyed. "It's terrible."
