Chapter 366 We'll See

Lucas had been stuck in his old department forever, always getting the short end of the stick from his boss. But, he finally got a promotion.

The guy was always pretty sharp, but his lack of a fancy degree held him back. Still, he pulled off something big recently, so Alan, the president of Cornerstone Construction, decided to take him under his wing. Alan found him pretty savvy and figured he'd keep him close.

When Raymond walked into the private room, Alan and Lucas were already there, along with a bunch of other top execs from Cornerstone Construction.

Alan got up with a big smile and went over to greet Raymond.

"Thanks for coming."

Raymond's eyes scanned the room and landed on Lucas.

Alan, always the sharp one, noticed Raymond's interest in Lucas and nudged him forward. "Meet my newly promoted guy. Lucas, say hi to Mr. Montague."

Lucas was pretty average-looking, the kind of guy you'd lose in a crowd.

Lucas said politely, "Mr. Montague, I've heard a lot about you."

In fact, they'd met a few times before, and Lucas always thought Raymond was a bit off.

He couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Once everyone settled in, Alan took the chance to say some thank-yous and ordered the priciest dishes on the menu.

This kind of fancy business dinner spot was designed to milk big shots like them, with a table full of dishes costing a small fortune.

Raymond seemed unfazed, just nodding or raising an eyebrow now and then.

Sitting next to him, Olivia could feel his eyes occasionally drifting over to Lucas.

After a few rounds of drinks, Raymond set his glass down. "Lucas, you married yet?"

He traced the rim of his glass like it was no big deal.

Cornerstone Construction was a big player in the renovation game, but everyone felt a bit on edge around Raymond, especially Lucas, who was just a small fry.

He never expected Raymond to ask him anything and quickly replied, "Not yet."

Raymond raised an eyebrow, a deep look flashing in his eyes, followed by a cold sneer. "I see."

Things got a bit awkward, and Alan jumped in to smooth it over. "Lucas is still young, no rush to get married. But you and this lovely lady next to you must be tying the knot soon, right?"

Olivia's eyes lit up, and a smile spread across her face.

Raymond set his glass down, his tone soft. "We'll see."

At least he didn't shoot it down.

Olivia let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding, glad she had stuck around today.

She'd been uneasy ever since Sofia was sent abroad.

Just then, the waiter brought in some new dishes, and Lucas, ever the thoughtful one, helped arrange them on the table.

Alan was pleased and gave him a pat on the shoulder.

A perceptive guy was always useful.

Raymond unbuttoned his suit jacket, having forgotten to hang it up when he came in. Lucas quickly stepped in and took it from him. "Mr. Montague, let me take care of that."

Raymond frowned but didn't say anything.

As Lucas was about to hang the suit, he heard a sharp clink on the floor. Two silver-blue objects had fallen out of the suit.

Startled, he scrambled to find them but only managed to pick up one; the other was nowhere in sight.

Alan noticed him bending over and asked, "Lucas, what's up?"

Lucas was sweating, his throat dry. "Mr. Montague's cufflinks fell, and I only found one."

Olivia, sitting next to Raymond, immediately recognized them as the cufflinks she had given him and got a bit angry. "Those are the cufflinks I gave him; they mean a lot. How could you be so careless?"

Olivia had a reputation for having a bad temper in the Stone family.

These were the cufflinks she had given Raymond, who rarely accepted gifts.

Lucas said terrifiedly, "Miss Stone, I'll keep looking."

Olivia glanced around the floor but couldn't find it.

The cufflink was small, and the room's decor made it even harder to spot.

After a few moments, Olivia sat back down. "You better find it quickly."

Alan wanted to vouch for Lucas, but the door to the private room opened, and Caterlington walked in with Selena.

The Walsh family's company had a lot of collaboration opportunities with Cornerstone Construction. Caterlington had just taken over the company and, despite his sharpness, knew the importance of keeping good relationships, especially with Raymond around.

When Caterlington pulled Selena over, she saw his slightly curved lips and knew he was probably up to something.
