Chapter 277 Cold and Somewhat Dangerous

Raymond's hand, stretched out in front of her, was clean and slender, meticulously groomed, and easy on the eyes.

But beneath that beauty, it felt like a beast was lurking, ready to pounce, cold and kinda dangerous.

Selena instinctively stepped back, but his other hand landed on the wall behind her, trapping her. Pressed nervously against the wall, she couldn't find a way to put more distance between them.

With his hands positioned in front and behind, he had her completely cornered.

She swallowed hard, not daring to look at him.

In this kind of standoff, a woman was naturally at a disadvantage.

To an outsider, it would seem like she was trapped in his embrace.

The atmosphere was dizzying, but Selena had to stay clear-headed because he was Raymond.

There was absolutely no chance between them.

Just then, her phone rang, breaking the tension, and she let out a sigh of relief.

She picked it up and saw it was Lucas, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes.

She used to hate Lucas calling her out of the blue, but now, this call was a lifesaver.

Raymond obviously saw the name on her phone too. He pursed his lips and looked down, seeing her happily press the answer button. Her body even seemed less tense, like this call had saved her.

He slowly withdrew his hand and heard her say, "Got a promotion? Great, I know. I'll be right back."

Lucas had indeed been promoted. After much thought, he had called her.

If Selena hadn't valued him and deliberately delayed in the lobby, he wouldn't have gotten the promotion..

He wanted to invite her to dinner, even though he knew she might not care.

Lucas actually had other thoughts, like turning a fake relationship with Selena into a real one.

Now that Selena agreed so quickly, he immediately booked a restaurant.

Selena repeated the name of the restaurant and then hung up the phone.

The arm blocking her disappeared, and she didn't dare to look at Raymond, feeling that if it weren't for this call, he might have done something a man would want to do.

The calm exterior seemed to hide a restless side of him.

Selena thought of the kiss in Ridgefield, not understanding his intentions. Could it be that Raymond had desires like any other man?

She also thought of the first night, being driven wild by him in bed until she lost all reason.

Her face turned even redder, and she quickly spoke, "I'll be leaving now."

"Take the documents with you."

His tone was indifferent, as if he didn't care about his previous actions.

Selena thought he didn't need her documents, so she turned without hesitation, went back to the coffee table, and picked up the documents.

At that moment, he turned on the lights in the room.

The bright light made her uncomfortable, and she shielded her eyes with the documents, feeling a sting that almost brought tears.

When she adjusted, she saw he was no longer there, and the sound of water came from the bathroom.

Selena let out a sigh of relief, quickly left the room, and carefully closed the door without locking it.

As she walked to the hotel lobby, she received a message from Raymond.

[Finish the Manston Manor project.]

Selena immediately felt a headache. She hadn't mentioned Olivia earlier, and if she had to continue designing according to Olivia's ideas, her reputation in interior design would be completely ruined.

Selena frowned, unable to accept this, so she turned back and went to Raymond's room.

"Raymond, about Manston Manor, it's not that I don't want to continue, but."

Because the door wasn't fully closed, she pushed it open, but her words stopped abruptly.

Raymond had just come out of the bathroom, with only a towel around his waist, water droplets rolling from his chin down to a certain point.

Selena's pupils contracted, and she almost instinctively tried to run out. But her wrist was grabbed, and the door in front of her was shut!

She was trapped inside!
