Chapter 57 "Mr. Montague, Did you Registered?"
Emily shot Selena a smug look, her disdain clear.
Selena just found it funny.
"Because some student here slandered me," Selena began, "and Ms. Stone, without even investigating, tried to expel me. Is that how you roll at this school? There are a lot of investors here today, Ms. Stone. Can you take responsibility for this?"
Samantha's face went stiff.
Yeah, there were a bunch of investors at the art exhibition. If this blew up, it would trash the school's reputation.
But Emily, not backing down, lifted her chin defiantly. "The investors are smart enough to see the school isn't at fault. We stand for justice and set an example for students. You stole my bracelet, and punishing you just shows we stick to our principles. Stop trying to use the investors to pressure us. Ms. Stone, I think she should be expelled."
Emily wasn't scared at all. After all, the Stone family wasn't powerful, and they were about to team up with the Adams family. Samantha should be trying to butter her up for her family's sake.
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Samantha's eyes. She wasn't worried about Selena using the video to threaten her because she had a video too, which kept things in check.
Plus, it wasn't she who wanted to mess with Selena now; it was Emily.
After Emily finished, she turned to Caterlington. "Caterlington, you saw it. She's a thief. Be careful. Who knows if she's after your money."
Emily used his first name instead of Mr. Walsh, showing how close they were.
Caterlington thought it was time to step in and calm Emily down, hoping to score some points with Selena. But then Albert Sanchez, the president of Silver Bay University, showed up.
Albert, in his fifties and looking sharp, saw the commotion and noticed Emily from the Adams family. He frowned. "What's going on? Samantha, why are you still here? Didn't I ask you to personally guide the VIPs over there?"
Albert was in a rush to greet the VIPs and just happened to pass by.
He then looked at Emily. "Emily, what's the matter?"
Anyone could tell his tone had softened a lot.
Emily sneered, almost pointing at Selena. "She stole my bracelet in broad daylight. I hope the school can get justice for me."
Albert glanced at Selena, not recognizing her, and impatiently waved his hand. "Where's security? Have them escort her out and send her to the police. Handle this properly. Don't waste everyone's time over a stranger."
Selena wasn't surprised by this familiar face and way of handling things.
If Albert hadn't tried to suck up to Kross back then, he wouldn't have turned a blind eye to Samantha's dirty move.Years had passed, and nothing had changed.
Samantha felt satisfied. Many visitors were now focused on Selena, waiting to see how she'd handle this.
Even if Selena stopped painting and switched to being a designer, so what? This would ruin her reputation, and she might not even keep her job.
She turned to look at Selena's face, hoping to see some shame or fear.
But Selena just chuckled softly. "Then call the police. The school doesn't have the right to play judge and jury. And besides, this isn't over. Silver Bay can't just convict someone based on Emily's word, can they, Mr. Sanchez?"
Albert, getting impatient, said, "Everyone entering the school today needs to register. If you haven't registered, you'll be kicked out."
Selena continued, "When I came, I didn't hear that registration was required. Silver Bay University has held many art exhibitions, and not once was registration needed. Is this a new rule this year?"
"Yeah, so we're just following the rules. You can leave now. Security, throw her out."
Albert really didn't want to waste time here. He checked his watch; he still needed to greet the VIPs.
But Selena's gaze went past him, landing about ten feet behind him, and she asked with a smile, "Mr. Montague, did you register?"
